Cedar Grove Friday Flash

Thank you to all our families for coming out to STEM Night and McDonald's for McTeacher Night! We appreciate your support with all of our events and fundraisers, and thank you to our staff for their participation and PTA for providing these opportunities.

Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will soon be taking the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) assessments in Math and English Language Arts (ELA). The math assessments will take place the mornings of April 7 and 9, and the ELA assessments will take place the mornings of April 23, 25, 28, and May 5. We would appreciate your help in making sure your child is well rested for these assessments, enjoys a healthy breakfast, and arrives to school on time. Also, it would be very helpful if appointments can be scheduled on other non-testing dates. Thank you.

As a reminder, there is no school on Monday, March 31. Have a wonderful weekend!

Please help support our students learning about careers by sharing yours! Students LOVE learning and talking about what they want to be when they grow-up. They are eager to learn about different careers. We are fortunate to have so many interesting jobs in our parent community. Please consider volunteering for this exciting day and complete this Career Day Interest form.

Online registration for kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year opened on Monday, February 3. Children who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2025 are eligible to register. Registration is online through the ParentVUE portal. For more information about eligibility and the registration process, visit the MCPS Kindergarten Enrollment website or contact our school office. Once your child is registered, please click on the link below and sign up for the Kindergarten Welcome using your child's name. The Kindergarten Welcome will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025.

Please take a look at the updated March Media Monthly. After a busy science-y week, this week has been rather calm. We do have our March Book Madness champion and thank all our guest readers for lending their voices to these amazing titles. My team is focusing on Bear Day and hope you have put May 9 on your calendar. Please look for a sign-up genius to come out soon. Please join us for a night of fun, food, friends, and family while we celebrate the diversity of our Cedar Grove Community. Families will enjoy a trip Around the World by visiting various displays and activity stations.

Please participate by selecting a country from this LIST to research and make a display. You can pick your country of origin, although we also encourage you to pick a place that is new to you! This is going to be a wonderful event!
