HELLO EAGLE FAMILIES!!
As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow, October 21st. Enjoy the day off!
Thank you to all our parents/ guardians that joined our teachers for conferences last week. It is always a wonderful opportunity for us to share about your child's progress at school.
Earn funding for our Weathersfield PTA this Wednesday, October 23, simply by purchasing lunch or dinner for your family from Ameci's on Avenida de los Arboles and/or gelato from Tifa, which is located right next door to Ameci's. No need to present a flyer, simply mention the Weathersfield fundraiser. Weathersfield PTA will receive a percentage of your order(s) donated back us.
Our Annual Boo Bash and Trunk or Treat Festival is next Saturday, October 26, from 3-6pm. It is sure to be GREAT TIME! If you haven't signed up to volunteer for your child's classroom booth or a decorated trunk, please do so. All your help and support is greatly appreciated, and needed in order to make events like this possible.

Halloween Costume Parade Guidelines - Thursday, October 31
Halloween Costume Parade - Thursday, October 31
- The parade will be held Thursday, October 31st, at 8:45 am, on the upper grade blacktop play area.
- Students should come to school in their costumes, and MUST bring a change of clothes/shoes. Students will change into regular school clothes/shoes right after the parade is over.
- HALLOWEEN MASKS THAT COVER THE FULL FACE ARE NOT ALLOWED. Students may wear a little make-up, but nothing scary. NO WEAPONS OF ANY KIND may be brought to school, even if it is part of the costume.
- Parents are welcome to come see the parade and take photos!
- Parents must leave campus promptly once the event ends.
- As always, students are not required to dress up for Halloween to participate in the parade.
NEW GUIDELINES for Short-Term Independent Study
Per changes at the state level, CVUSD has updated the Short-Term Independent Study (STIS) policy in order to help families try to reduce chronic student absence and increase our state funding. STIS allows the opportunity for students to learn asynchronously while away from school and receive attendance credit as if they were present at school. Following are the new guidelines:
- Students may use up to fifteen (15) STIS days annually.
- STIS days are not required to take place consecutively.
- The shortest contract duration is one (1) day and the longest contract is fifteen (15) days.
- Students may use short-term independent study for any reason.
- A legal contract between parent or legal guardian and CVUSD is required for every STIS. Four parties sign this agreement: parent, teacher, principal, and student. The parent agrees to make certain the student completes all assigned school work and turns it in to the teacher. The teacher will grade the completed school work and determine how much attendance credit the student will receive. Failure to complete all the assignments or not turn in the completed work packet on time may impact the student receiving attendance credit.
- CONTACT THE FRONT OFFICE VIA PHONE CALL OR IN PERSON TO REQUEST AN STIS. DO NOT EMAIL an STIS request to front office staff. Alerting your child's teacher that you are requesting an STIS is definitely appreciated, but does not constitute an official STIS request. This must be done with the front office directly. If your student will be gone for three days or longer, a minimum of three days (72 hours) advance notice is needed to process the contract and allow teachers the time to pull together the assignment packets. The longer the number of days gone, the more time the teacher will need to be able to do this. A fair estimate would be an additional three (3) business days notice for every 5 days the student will be absent from school. Please be mindful of front office staff and teacher work load. Make your STIS requests as soon as possible so that they have the time available to fulfill it. THANK YOU!!
- Last-minute family emergencies may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis. If you find yourself in this situation, please call the front office to discuss it. We will share your options with you so that you may make an informed decision.
BOO BASH on Saturday, October 26
For our families who may have missed this information OR haven't yet volunteered in some way for this event and would like to contribute...
Our annual Boo Bash Trunk-or-Treat Carnival is next weekend on Saturday, October 26th from 3:00-6:00 pm. This is an EXTREMELY popular event. Our amazing PTA continue to work hard on the details, but they need some help from you. Here are ways to contribute:
- Trunk Decorating: We need to have two (2)-three (3) "TRUNKS" from each class in the designated Trunk or Treat area by 1:30pm on Saturday 10/26/24. Have fun decorating your trunk in a family-friendly Halloween theme and enjoy passing out candy and trinkets to all the trick or treaters! Candy and trinkets will be a collection of donations from all classrooms. They will all be put into a community stash and distributed to the decorated trunks before the event. Sign up below if you would like to participate!

- Volunteer the day of the event - In order for our Boo Bash to be successful, we are looking for some amazing parents to help us out. No volunteer amount is too small, we will gladly accept help for set-up, balloon decorations, activity volunteers and tear down. (We also sign off on community hours for middle and high schoolers). Use this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0444ADA72DA6F85-51331493-boobash
- Candy or Trinket Donations: We ask each family to donate at least one bag of candy or trinkets for this event. Very hungry Candy Monsters are in each classroom! There are even monsters in the front office and library. They just can’t wait to gobble up those donations! So please families…feed our monsters! Reminder…candy must be individually wrapped, no homemade items and in fully sealed bags.
