Arrival/Drop Off
Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well. As we strive to ensure a safe and productive learning environment for all our students, I would like to address an important matter regarding drop-off times.
Please be reminded that students should not be dropped off on school grounds before 8:00 AM. Our campus and staff are not fully prepared to supervise students prior to that time, and we want to ensure that all children are safe and well-cared for upon arrival. We understand that morning schedules can be busy, but we kindly ask that you plan to drop your child off between 8:00 AM and 8:45 AM to ensure their safety and to avoid any inconvenience.
Our school doors officially open at 8:00 AM, at which time staff are available to supervise students.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and secure school environment. Should you need any assistance or have questions about drop-off procedures, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

Reminders
ID's and Detention
We are hosting Admin Detentions on Thursdays in the cafeteria for students who have not worn their ID 3+ times. We track these detentions based on the number of times a student enters the building in the morning and needs to borrow a temporary ID and the number of times their teacher scans the “No ID” QR code during 4th period. Once the student has forgotten to wear their ID 3 times, they will be issued an administrative detention. Once the detention is complete, the student’s “Not having their ID” count will return to zero and they will not be issued another detention unless they forget to wear their ID 3 more times.
Parents will receive the detention notification through an automated phone call, a text message, and an email from administration. If you have questions about the detention, please contact Ashley Evans at Ashley.evans@gpisd.org. If you need to call the office to speak with someone about the detention, the front office staff will ask for your name, your contact number, your student’s name, and their ID number and let you know that they will send it to Mrs. Evans who will call you back within 48 hours.
During detention, students copy an essay about the importance of wearing their ID for safety, how to create a routine for remembering it, and the procedures/consequence of not wearing it. The hand-written essay must be signed by a parent and returned to Mrs. Evans in Room 501 to get credit for the detention. Most students who receive a second notification for detention are getting that because they failed to return the detention essay to Mrs. Evans. The purpose for having students write and return a signed essay is so that both the student and the guardian understands the importance placed on wearing the ID.
Safety
Safety Reminders
At Bill Arnold Middle School, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we are committed to maintaining a secure and supportive learning environment for everyone. I want to take a moment to remind you about the measures that have been in place since the beginning of the school year and continue to be in place to ensure the safety and well-being of your child while on campus.
Here are the key safety measures in place to protect students:
- Clear or Mesh Backpacks: In order to maintain transparency and safety, we require that all students use clear or mesh backpacks. This helps us quickly identify any potential concerns while respecting the privacy of personal belongings.
- Daily Metal Detector Screenings: Each day, all students are required to pass through metal detectors upon arrival to campus. This allows us to prevent the presence of any dangerous items and create a secure environment.
- School Resource Officer (SRO): We have a dedicated School Resource Officer (SRO) on campus each day. Our SRO works closely with school administration to ensure safety protocols are followed and provides an additional layer of protection for our students.
- Locked Doors: For added security, all interior and exterior doors on campus remain locked throughout the day. This helps to control access to the building and protect students and staff.
- Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Support: We understand that the current safety measures can sometimes cause concerns or anxieties for students. Our Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) team is always available to talk to students who may need support or have concerns. We encourage any student feeling uneasy to reach out to our SEL team.
Your child’s safety is our top priority, and we are committed to providing a secure and supportive environment for their academic and personal growth.
Thank you for your continued trust and partnership in making Arnold Middle School a safe place for learning.
Sincerely,
Arnold Middle School Admin Team
