🍎 Happy Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week! 🍎
Thank you to our PTA and all of the families
who contributed to the week's festivities!
Our staff loves being a part of your children's
educational journey!
Reminders
If you're having trouble accessing the Parent Portal, or if you would like a printed version of your child's report card, please contact the main office.
Please remember that there are some additional calendar changes for this school year.
If we do not use our remaining one emergency closing day by Friday, May 23rd, then Tuesday, May 27th will be a non-school day for students and 10-month staff. District offices will be open.
Governor Murphy rescheduled the June 2025 Primary Election date from June 3rd to June 10th. The district has adjusted our school calendar as follows to accommodate this change.
Tuesday, June 3rd will now be a full day for all students with lunch served for students.
Tuesday, June 10th will now be a single session day (1:35 closing) for all students with lunch served in grades K-6.
Preparing for NJSLA
NJSLA testing for third and fourth graders begins on Monday, May 12th and runs through Friday, May 16th. Make up testing for any students who are absent will take place the following week, as needed.
During the assessment period, we ask that you support your child by making sure they are on time for school, get a good night’s sleep, and eat a healthy breakfast. The NJSLA is aligned with the curriculum that your child has participated in all year, so no special preparation for testing is necessary. All third and fourth graders will need to have their own pair of wired earbuds (they cannot be wireless) and their charged Chromebooks at school for NJSLA testing. The teachers have been collecting Chromebooks, chargers, and earphones, and they will remain IN SCHOOL to be certain that the children have these items on testing days.
Please see this letter and testing schedule regarding the upcoming Spring NJSLA and NJGPA testing. If you have any questions, please contact me, Mrs. Kaboski, or your child's teacher. Please also visit our website at www.ebnet.org/assessment for more information.
Dismissal Playground Safety
As the weather is getting warmer, please remember that upon dismissal, it is expected that parents/guardians are taking their children home. Staff members are NOT responsible for students once they have been released to their parent/guardian.
School behaviors are expected for any child(ren) that remain on the playground after school hours. Please remain vigilant, stay close, and SUPERVISE YOUR CHILD(REN) at all times before leaving school property. Also, for the safety of all, please be reminded that dogs are NOT permitted on school property and small motorized vehicles should not be brought/used at dismissal time.
Note from the Nurse
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Allergy season is upon us, and I want to take a moment to remind everyone about the potential impact seasonal allergies can have on our students and offer helpful information to ensure your child’s comfort and well-being.
Increased pollen levels can trigger symptoms such as sneezing, itchy eyes, runny noses, and congestion. In some cases, allergies can also worsen asthma symptoms, making it important to monitor your child's condition during this time of year.
What You Can Do to Help:
Medications: If your child has been prescribed allergy medication, please ensure that they take it as directed. If your child’s symptoms are significant, consider having a conversation with their healthcare provider about adjusting or starting new treatments.
Notify the Nurse: If your child requires any allergy medication during school hours, please provide the necessary forms and medications to the school nurse. All medications must be in the original container with clear instructions, and forms must be completed for us to administer them.
Dress Appropriately: Encourage your child to wear sunglasses to reduce eye irritation and hats to help shield from pollen. After outdoor play at home, have them change clothes and wash their hands to minimize allergens brought indoors.
Hydration and Rest: Keeping your child well-hydrated and rested can also help manage allergy symptoms.
Increased Asthma Awareness:
If your child has asthma, please remind them of their asthma action plan and ensure that we have the most current information on file. Seasonal allergies can sometimes trigger asthma attacks, so it’s important for students to be prepared and follow their prescribed treatment plan.
If you have any concerns about your child's allergies or asthma, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Together, we can ensure that your child has a healthy and comfortable time at school.
Thank you for your cooperation, and please do not hesitate to contact the school nurse’s office if you have any questions or need further assistance.
Sincerely,
Teresa Kominkiewicz RN, BSN, NJ-CSN

We Continue to Celebrate Our Diversity
Parents Welcome!
In an effort to create a more inclusive school environment, we'd like to celebrate our diversity and learn more about each others' heritage throughout the school year. Parents/guardians are welcome to come in and share about your family's culture! At any time during the school year, if you'd like to present to your child's classroom or grade level, please contact Mrs. Kaboski at nkaboski@ebnet.org so we can arrange a time for you to come in. We'd love to have you join us!
