Morning Drop Off
We are seeking your assistance and attention to the matter of morning drop offs.
As you may know, our school doors open at 8:15 a.m. for us to welcome the arrival of our wonderful scholars.
However, we have been seeing an influx of students being dropped off as early as 7:30 am and begin to walk around the school buildings with their friends, engage in playful behavior, and run around chasing their fellow schoolmates.
While safety and supervision is crucial during this time, it does become a hard task to monitor a crowd full of scholars and direct traffic.
We are reaching out to ask for your assistance to please drop off your scholars between 8:15 and 8:30 so that we can limit the amount of time a scholar is waiting for entry to the school.
Thank you for your understanding and partnership.

Student Service Learning Information
Service learning is a teaching method that combines meaningful service to the community with curriculum-based learning. Students improve their academic skills by applying what they learn in school to the real world; they then reflect on their experience to reinforce the link between their service and their learning.
The minimum total number of hours students must engage in service-learning activities before they successfully complete the service-learning graduation requirement. Prince George’s County Public Schools students must engage in a minimum of 75 student service-learning (SSL) hours in order to successfully meet the service-learning graduation requirement. To ensure that students are able to meet this requirement, service-learning has been infused into the science and social studies curricula for grades 5-10 for a total of 51 hours. Social Studies courses provide a total of 28 curriculum-infused hours and Science courses provide a total of 23 curriculum-infused hours.
Additionally, students must complete 24 independent hours of service-learning.
Please reach out to Mr. Johnson for questions regarding student service learning hours and opportunities at yurhance.johnson@pgcps.org

Save-The-Date: General Membership Meeting
Updates from your PTO Executive Board
Updates From Your PTO Executive Board
Greetings Tiger Families and Staff!
In case you missed it, our first CMIT North Middle PTO General Membership Meeting was held on Thursday, February 22 at 6:30pm. We are looking forward to our next meeting on Thursday, March 14th at 6:30pm.
During the meeting, the CMIT Community had the opportunity to meet the newly elected PTO Executive Board, receive reports from the Board members, learn about proposed plans for the remainder of the school year, and learn about the revised Bylaws.
Prior to the meeting we asked that the school community review the revised Bylaws, understand the reasons behind each article and section and how they might impact the PTO; the Bylaws were reviewed during the meeting as well. During our next meeting on March 14th, we will vote on the adoption of the updated Bylaws. To participate in the vote you must be a member in good standing who paid dues at least ten days prior to the General Membership Meeting.
We also reviewed the minutes from the last General Membership Meeting held on December 19, 2023. The Board took a motion and adopted the meeting minutes during the February 22, 2024 meeting.
Lastly, and most importantly, during this meeting the PTO Executive Board got to hear directly from you. 😀
If you still have any specific questions about the revised Bylaws, or any questions for the PTO Board, please do not hesitate to contact us in advance at info_nmspto@cmitacademy.org.
