PRINCIPAL's MESSAGE
Dear KE Families,
Welcome to this fast and furious month at KE Elementary! We have some exciting events lined up for your Cubs, and we look forward to the moments of joy this brings in the weeks ahead.
Please mark your calendars and support our KE Parent Teacher Association (KEPTA) with their biggest fundraiser of the year on June 7. Be sure to check out their website for more information. Once on the page, scroll down to Fun Run.
A big thank you to our KEPTA! You have continued to bring the best experiences to our KE Cubs and spoil us in the process. We appreciate your tireless work and generosity.
As we wrap up the year, we would like to hear from you! Please take a moment to complete the KE Family Survey and let us know how we are doing.
Lastly, Ms. Cano is transitioning to a new opportunity, we appreciate her efforts during her time with us and wish her the best. Her personal message is available for you to read below. Look forward to an introduction of our new assistant principal in the weeks ahead.
To all celebrating, Happy Father's Day to you or to those who fulfill all the duties of a father.
Enjoy your summer!

MESSAGE FROM MS. CANO
Dear Kenmore families,
I hope this message finds you well as we round out the school year. I wanted to express my gratitude for your warm welcome and support during my time here at Kenmore. I am excited to share that next year I have the opportunity to move to Woodmoor Elementary School. Woodmoor brings new programs to explore and experiences for professional growth. While I will miss Kenmore, I am looking forward to the new experiences.
It has been a pleasure working with your kind and hard-working students, and I am grateful for the time connecting with this community. When asked what I love about Kenmore, I say that it is the positive culture the kids create among themselves and with our staff. As a parent, I recognize that you give them love, guidance, and empower them to be future leaders. They have inspired me with their care for each other, their perseverance, their ability to leave tough times behind them, and yet show up as their best selves.
I wish you a wonderful summer and patience as the renovations start at Kenmore. Your children are resilient and will do great with the changes—they are certainly deserving of a fresh update to their school!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Cano
Assistant Principal

5TH GRADE MOVING UP CELEBRATION
5th Grade Moving Up Celebration
Friday, June 21st @ 2:30pm
Gymnasium
For our parents and guardians of the Class of 2031, please plan to join us on June 21, 2024, for our 5th Grade Moving Up Celebration! This is a special celebration for our fifth-grade students only and will be held in the gym. We will start promptly at 2:30 with awards, recognition of staff leaving Kenmore Elementary, and finally certificates of completion for all our 5th grade students. Students will then walk the campus to say goodbye to former teachers and allow our younger students to wish our 5th graders well as they transition to middle school.
Please keep in mind that the rest of the school will still be in session, so it is important to allow extra time to check find parking (the lower lot will be closed for buses/dismissal), check in at the main office for a visitor sticker, and walk to the gym.
If you have younger children at our school, they should remain with their class and step out to celebrate their older siblings on the parade route. Last year the parade was a highlight for our fifth-graders and all the kids on campus who cheered for them, made signs, and made noise 🙂.
We will send a reminder message closer to the day of the event.

NEW VISITOR CHECK IN PROCEDURE
At Kenmore Elementary, safety is one of our top priorities. We ask that you do not enter the office building unless you are on campus to volunteer, have a scheduled visit, sign out a student early or need to meet with a staff person on campus. When bringing in a late student, please ring the doorbell once and a staff person will meet you at the front door to check your student in and ensure they get to class safely.
Effective today (May 31st) Kenmore Elementary has a new visitor/volunteer check in system. All visitors on campus will be required to wear a badge sticker with their name and photo on it when they enter campus. Here are some important things to know about our new system:
- Bring Photo ID with you for checking in at the office.
- Be prepared to have your picture taken for your visitor/volunteer badge. Not hats or masks please.
- The blue sign-in sheet will now be replaced by a lavender clipboard sheet that is only used for signing students out early when they leave school prior to dismissal.
DISTRICT TECHNOLOGY UDPATE
Students will keep their devices this summer!
Students currently in grades 2-5 will be keeping their assigned computing devices over the summer months to allow for continuous learning. Students and families are expected to take care of their assigned device by keeping it charged and in its bag when not in use. Students who are enrolled in summer learning programs are expected to bring their device to summer programs each day. If families need support using their device or troubleshooting technical issues, they should create a help ticket at http://go.nsd.org/studenttechhelp.
Families who wish not to keep a device over the summer need to complete this opt out form.
Families may not need or want to take their student’s device home over the summer. Families who wish to opt out of keeping their student’s assigned device will need to indicate that they are “opting out” by completing the form at https://go.nsd.org/optout before June 14th. This form will help our staff to plan efficiently for sending devices home for summer learning. When students return to school in the Fall, any student who does not have an assigned device will be assigned one for school year learning.
Families in grades K-1 whose students need a device for summer learning need to complete this opt in form.
Families of students currently in grades K and 1 who wish to check out an iPad for summer learning need to indicate so by completing the form at http://go.nsd.org/techoptin before June 14th. Students and families are expected to care for the device and use it only for learning purposes. The device must be returned to school on or before the first day of the 2024-2025 school year.In you are completing an Opt-Out or Opt-In Form, please do so by Friday, June 14th.
