Betty's Books
A heartfelt thank you to the Decatur Education Foundation for the Betty's Books program. In loving memory of Betty Carson, this initiative provides a free book to each Pre-K student in Decatur ISD. We are so grateful for the opportunity to bring these stories home and share the joy of reading with our Young Pre-K students. We love our new books!

Pre-K students enjoyed an ice cream treat after learning about the letter i.
Kindergarten Fun
We have learned all about apples in Kindergarten. We learned what regions apple grown in, parts of an apple, life cycle of an apple, we have graphed and did science experience like Apple volcanoes and a how to writing with making applesauce and apple pie in a cup! We ended our Apple unit celebrating Johnny Appleseed doing Carmel Apple stations, Apple bobbing, Apple crafts, and Apple math!
First Grade
Second Grade
Second grade worked on place value earlier this week by bundling single straws into groups of tens and then hundreds. We were able to count 1,000 straws.
Sink or Float Lab
Third grade had fun doing their Sink or Float Lab! The kids were surprised what fruit would sink and what would float!
How small is a milliliter?
4th Grade Hashtag Challange
Congratulations to these students for finishing their hashtag challenge in under three minutes!
5th Grade Leadership
Our 5th Grade Leadership team was honored to be invited and recognized at today's Decatur Chamber of Commerce luncheon.

We enjoyed listening to our City Manager, Nate Mara, and Decatur EDC Executive Director, Kevin Holzbog discuss the "State of Decatur."
Thank you to the Chamber, local businesses, and city leaders for pouring into our future leaders! It was a great day!

Manners Awards
Each Monday at Young, we focus on a manner that we feel is important for our students to know and use. These students were selected by their teachers and honored today by Mrs. Coffman and Mrs. Roseberry for always using their manners. Congratulations to our 1st Six Weeks Manners Award Winners! We are proud of you!
