Daily Announcements
School Hours:
Doors open at 7:30am.
Classes start at 7:45 am and dismisses at 3:15pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Students are dismissed at 2:00pm every Wednesday for early release.
Students must be in their classroom by 7:45am to avoid being tardy. If you are late, you need to sign in at the office and get a pass before going to class.
School Board Cell Phone Policy
Cell Phone Reminders:
- Students should NOT have their phones on their person or on their desks during class. You have 2 options: in your locker powered off, or in the wall pouches in the classroom; that's it.
- "Bell to Bell" means "Bell to Bell". Cellphones should not be picked up until you are leaving the classroom at the end of class.
- These expectations are NOT negotiable and are backed by the school board. Let's make sure we are following these expectations to avoid consequences that will follow, including but not limited to verbal warning, confiscation and detention/suspension.
Dress for the Weather!
With the colder weather here, it is important that students do NOT arrive to school before the doors open at 7:30am. Students are not allowed in the building prior to the doors being opened. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. They can always change once they arrive at school, but should have warmer clothes to and from school and to keep in their locker.
For our bus riders also, please make sure your child is dressed for the weather as bus emergencies can and do happen. It is best to always be prepared! Thank you!

*Students bringing a guest who is not a current Omro student must complete a guest form found in the HS office. Forms are due back to the HS office by Thursday, December 19th.
*Dance tickets will be for sale during both lunches the week of December 16th through the 20th, for $10. ANYONE BRINGING A GUEST MUST PURCHASE A TICKET IN ADVANCE!

Acting/Directing Opportunity
WE Community Church, is putting on a live outdoor nativity on December 22nd in Eureka. We are in need of someone(s) to help with the script and a few other things. Pastor Mike Hert was wondering if there was anyone from the high school that would be interested in assisting. Whether it is a student, staff, or combination of all. We sure could use the help.

Giving Tree 2024
The Giving Tree donation drive is off to a running start with last year's winner facing a daunting challenger. Here are the totals so far:
Douglas: 82 points
Turner: 76 points
All other Fox Times: 0 points
Work with your Fox Time to bring in items and accumulate points. Make sure your items are labeled with your Advisor's name. If everyone brings in at least one item, the competition will heat up!
Take an ornament off the Giving Tree by the Main office and bring the items LABELED WITH YOUR ADVISOR'S NAME to the Guidance office by December 18. Each item brought in is worth points...the higher the need, the higher the points. The Fox Time with the most points wins SOS Breakfast!
Mrs. Morse's Culinary Class to Cater Holiday Event at Menominee Park Zoo
If you are looking for something fun to do with your family next weekend, I encourage you to attend this event. Help to welcome some new friends to the Menominee Park Zoo--- Mr. Reeves (black bear) and Mellie, Joey and Apollo (3 foxes). There will be music and treats. My Culinary Arts class is catering some of the yummy cupcakes!! Santa might even take time to stop in too!!
NHS Supports Christmas Crusade
The NHS executive board started a new tradition this year! They chose 4 students to adopt & shop for through the Christmas Crusade program sponsored by Form the Family (previously the Winnebago County Foster Closet) which is a non profit based in Oshkosh.
NHS members met after school to shop and select gifts for the kids. Thank you Liam, Ariana, Holly, and Makenna for each leading a shopping group!

There is an exciting event coming your way very soon, Friday, December 20!
"Junk in Your Trunk" is a friendly competition that you don't want to miss! This scavenger hunt in your car will result in great prizes! All you need to do is sign up for Mrs. Miller's "Junk in Your Trunk" Fox Time and drive to school on Friday, Dec. 20, park in the back parking lot closest to the softball diamond. (Look for the orange cones). You will then report to the commons at Fox time.
This fun, fast-paced game will help prepare you and your car for winter driving and is sponsored by the high school S.A.D.D. group. Cool free items will be given to all participants.

Pre-Arranged Absence Forms Are In The Office
Do you plan to go on vacation? Remember to pick up a pre-arranged absence form from the office!
College visit? You MUST have a pre-arranged absence form and you MUST provide proof that you attended your tour, such as a photo in front of that school's sign, a note on school letterhead, a photo of your sign in, etc...Please make sure you are following the correct procedure so that your absence is excused!

REMINDER: EXTRACURRICULAR ATTENDANCE POLICY - PRACTICE & COMPETITION
***Students must be in attendance for the entire school day in order to practice or compete in an event. ***
Special circumstances may merit exception with prior approval from the Principal/Dean of Students, or designee. To see if the absence can be approved:
- Step 1 - Parent/Guardian notification to office (Mrs. Prado, Mrs. Stadler or Mrs. Dobberstein) at least 24 hours prior to absence)
- Step 2 - If absence is approved, Student picks up signed Excused Slip from office
- Step 3 - Student gives signed Excused Slip to coach/advisor to participate the day of the absence
If an absence is deemed unexcused it will result in ineligibility for participation in extracurricular activities until the next full day of attendance.

New! Help Offered
Do you have questions about financial aid or need help completing the FAFSA? Fox Valley Technical College is available to help! The outreach is open to anyone in the communities (FVTC bound or not) who needs assistance. Along with the regional outreach, they also provide FAFSA sessions in person. These sessions are offered every Thursday when the college is open from 9-6 in person at our main Appleton campus or every Tuesday when we are open from 9-6 at our Riverside campus in Oshkosh. Please see the flyer attached for more information!

STUDENTS: When meeting with Recruiters, THEY need to set up appointments to meet with you THROUGH GUIDANCE and during your study hall. Please do not just set something up on your own as we do not allow recruiters free access to students without going through the proper procedure.

This is a great program that connects students to career professionals who will inspire and expose them to new opportunities across the industry sectors. This includes job shadowing, college visits, and employment events. Please see schedule of events. For more information, go to inspirewi.com
American Essay Contest
The Americanism Essay Contest was created to teach students the value of patriotism and what it means to be Americans and to help promote a lifelong respect of our flag and country.
Essay Title: “What does America the Beautiful mean to me (regarding veterans and our military)?”
Each year, the American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) sponsors an Americanism Essay Contest for students in grades 3-12, including students with special needs. Grade levels are divided into six classes.
In our effort to increase participation in the contest, we ask you to share this information with guidance counselors, English and history teachers or others whose students would be interested in participating.
All essays will be judged using the criteria and rubric provided. The decision of the judges shall be final. (See Scoring Rubric)
One award in each of the six classes will be presented. Winners will receive $10 from the Omro American Legion Auxiliary Unit 234. Winning entries will be forwarded to the ALA Department of WI for further competition.
Essays with the completed 2025 Submission Form must be submitted to the Omro American Legion Auxiliary Unit 234 by Friday February 14, 2025. Please mail to:
