3 Important Things for Families ...
December 6th, 2024
1. E-learning Plan for HMS
As we prepare for the possibility of cold and snowy weather, it’s important to revisit our plans for emergency e-learning days. While the district may still choose to close schools entirely rather than hold an e-learning day, having a clear plan ensures flexibility and continuity in learning.
On an e-learning day, students will follow their regular daily schedule as closely as possible. Instruction in core subjects such as math, reading, social studies, and science will occur during their usual times to allow specialists and specials classes to proceed without interruption. Teachers will provide clear directions on how to access their class Google Meet links and related codes. These details, along with additional information about e-learning, can also be found on our website: e-learning Information.
We encourage parents to review these procedures with their students to ensure they are prepared for a smooth transition to remote learning if the need arises.
Thank you for your continued support as we navigate the winter season together.

Hot Chocolate & Candy Canes for Sale Next Week at Recess!
Highland’s school-wide charity this year is Special Spaces Illinois, an organization that creates dream bedroom makeovers for children with life-threatening illnesses.
We are thrilled to share that we have already raised over $2,500 through online donations and school-wide events—thank you for your incredible generosity!
To keep the momentum going, students will be selling hot chocolate and candy canes at recess on Wednesday, 12/11, and Thursday, 12/12 for just $1 each. This is a cash-only fundraiser, so be sure to send a little something with your student to enjoy these treats while supporting a great cause!
If you’d like to contribute further, the portal for online donations is still open here.
Thank you for all of your support as we work together to make a difference!
