Woodbury Weekly Update for Families
September 13, 2024
Welcome to our weekly update! We are thrilled to keep you informed about the happenings at our school, celebrations & achievements and upcoming events, ensuring you're an active part of your students educational journey. In each update, you'll find some quick highlights of the past week and a preview of what's to come. Our hope is to foster a strong sense of community and collaboration between the school and our cherished families. Most weeks will be brief, but at times there is important information or updates that help support us in your involvement in our little school. Thank you for taking the time to read it!
A Peek a Great Week
We are already almost to mid September. We are thankful the weather continues to provide us with lots of sunshine. Our lost and found is already starting to accumulate items. Please check out the pictures below to see if any of the items belong to your student (s). As we look to the weeks ahead we will be meeting to discuss our student's fall benchmarking scores. This helps us plan any additional supports for students and individualize instructional goals in the classroom. We will also be participating in safety drills for fire, intruder and severe weather. We had our first Woodbury Way recognition drawing this week! Students who show the Woodbury Way throughout the week earn a special sticker and recognition and then names are drawn from each classroom at the end of the week. Students will also be chosen at the end of each month for demonstrating strength or improvement in a core value area. You can learn about our district core values below.
Right now the Woodbury PPA is running their Woody's Donut Fundraiser. This was a favorite last year, so you don't want to miss it! We also have a night at the creamery next week! Check out the new business in town! We hope you have a fabulous weekend!
Hey, I showed the Woodbury Way! September is an overview of our core values. Right now we are focused on starting the year off right, learning to follow our common expectations so that we can all share a space to learn through kindness and respect for all. This crew had their name drawn this week after earning Woodbury Way recognition! Stay tuned as we celebrate our students each week and month!
Honoring September 11th
We had some of our amazing third graders help our school honor this moment in history and all those impacted. We spent a longer time in silence in remembrance. Here are the words they shared:
โToday is a special day where we remember something very important. On September 11th, many years ago, a tragic event happened that affected many people. We honor the brave firefighters, police officers, and all the people who helped others during that difficult time. Letโs take a moment to think about how we can be helpful to one another, just like the heroes of that day. Remember, every small act of kindness makes a big difference. Thank you for being part of this moment with us. Letโs all work together to make our school and our world a better place.โ
