News and Notes
What a week! Spring is in full bloom, pollen has overtaken the air and we are full-fledge into Spring Sports, Activities and Fine Arts Events!
We have something incredible to celebrate in Bryan County, and it wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our students, staff, and families. Thanks to your continued support and commitment to excellence, Bryan County Schools has achieved an outstanding GOSA Single Score of 88.6—ranking us 6th out of 181 districts in Georgia! Even more exciting, Richmond Hill High School earned an impressive 90.6, reflecting the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and families all the while remaining one of the top schools in the state of Georgia.
What is the GOSA Single Score?
The Georgia Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) Single Score is derived from multiple key indicators that reflect a school district’s overall performance. These include:
- Student Achievement – How well students perform on state assessments.
- Student Progress – Growth in academic performance over time.
- Closing Gaps – Success in reducing disparities among different student groups.
- Readiness – College and career preparedness, including participation in advanced coursework.
- Graduation Rate – The percentage of students successfully completing high school.
This comprehensive measure highlights both academic excellence and continuous improvement, ensuring schools are not only meeting expectations but also striving for ongoing success.
The Power of Parent Involvement
This achievement is a direct result of the strong partnership between our schools and our families. Parental involvement is a cornerstone of student success, whether it’s supporting academics at home, encouraging extracurricular participation, or staying engaged with your child’s progress.
One of the most effective ways to stay connected is by regularly checking PowerSchool for updates on grades and attendance. This tool serves as an essential line of communication, helping parents:
- Monitor academic progress
- Address attendance concerns early
- Engage in meaningful conversations with teachers
- Support their child’s educational journey
Looking Ahead: 2025-2026 and Beyond
As we celebrate these accomplishments, we also look ahead. Our district is preparing to roll into the 2025-2026 school year with exciting new opportunities, growth, and a continued commitment to excellence. With new initiatives and a shared vision for student success, your engagement will be more important than ever.
Thank you for being part of the Bryan County Schools family. Together, we are setting the standard for excellence!

MCV-4 Important Information
At the age of 16, Georgia requires that your student receive the booster to the MCV4 vaccine.
If they do not receive the MCV4 booster on or after the age of 16, their immunization record, Certificate of Immunization (Form 3231), will expire.
If you have not already scheduled an appointment for your student to get their vaccines updated, please contact your healthcare provider or the Bryan County Health Department at 912-756-2611 to arrange the MCV4 booster.
Meningococcal disease is a serious bacterial illness that affects the brain and causes shock, coma and death within hours of the first symptoms. Georgia law requires students be vaccinated against this disease.
Please provide an updated copy of the Certificate of Immunization (Form 3231) once the MCV4 booster is completed. This document will become a part of your student’s permanent record once it is received by the RHHS clinic staff.
Contact your healthcare provider or the Bryan County Health Department with any questions related to the MCV4 Booster.
