September 13, 2024
Hello Spicewood Families,
It was really great seeing so many of you last night at our Parent Orientation. I truly believe that face to face time hearing from your child's teacher is so important at the beginning of the year. I hope you all were able to get some valuable insight into your child's day to day life here at school!
Have you heard about our volunteering opportunity called Panther Patrol? Once a month there is a day where parents can volunteer to help at Spicewood. Tasks on this day vary based on our needs. Some examples are, organizing shelves, putting together furniture, or some light yard work. You would also have the opportunity to visit your child in class and read a book or support in PE. It is all about building connections with our community as well as helping us fulfill our never ending to do list! 😃Please visit the following links for more information or to sign up for a future date.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Melanie Solis

Safety Message
Crossing Guards and Student Safety
- Please be aware of no parking signs that were installed by the City of Austin. There is a curve in the road on Tin cup approaching Olson that makes it difficult to see. There is never a reason to park in any of the No Parking Zones.
- Please avoid pulling to the side of the road to drop off your student. This interferes with the flow of traffic, including drivers that are not dropping of students. Students should only be dropped off through the car rider line.
- Always use turn signals and check your blind spots.
Lastly, please follow crossing guard directions and guidelines. They are there to help everyone get to school and home safely!

How Can Family Members Support IB?
Thank you for attending Open House! One of our goals is to make IB more visible in classrooms, on our campus, and in our community this school year. Check out this visual to see how you may be able to support the IB language and learning at your child’s school.

Carnival Volunteers Needed!
Hello Spicewood Families!
We are looking for parents and community members to sign up to help at our school Carnival on September 27th.
There are two ways to help! We need volunteers to donate 1 hour of time on the afternoon of the carnival to ensure we are able to make the event fun and memorable for everyone. Here is the link to sign up to help at the carnival.
We also need volunteers to send in sweet treats for the cake walk. This is one of our most popular attractions so we need lots of prizes for the kids (and adults too). Here is the link to sign up to bring a sweet treat for the cake walk.
It truly takes all of us to help make these events a success and our students love attending the Spicewood Carnival! There will be a PTA table set up at Parent Orientation

Spicewood is a school that is considerably reliant on its community. Every parent has a talent, skill, passion, or time. We rely on those skills to help keep our students in an unique education. Our PTA funds and runs a lot of the programs our students participate in, our teachers use, and our IB community thrives. It is with your PTA membership and support that we are able to give our Teachers and Students incredible support throughout the school year. Please consider signing you, your partner and your children up today!
