It's hard to believe that June is here already! Some highlights from May would definitely be our Variety Shows. Each grade group had an assembly where students were given a chance to share a skill, talent or passion. The variety we saw during these shows was amazing! What a talented group of students we have at Elmdale! Scroll down for some pictures. A huge thank you to Ms. Redekop and all the teachers for making these a success.

May ended with our annual Run, Jump & Throw Day. Thanks to Mr. Fast for organizing this fun event. The weather was hot, but with frequent water breaks the students still had a blast.

I hope you all had a chance to take in the Elmdale display at the Hanover Festival of the Arts at Clearspring Center. Thanks to Mrs. Giesbrecht and Mrs. Reimer for organizing this. It's great to show off the wonderful things happening at Elmdale.

Thanks to all parents who participated in our survey regarding Hot Lunch ordering. Based on the feedback we received, we will be doing a trial run of an online ordering system for September-December 2019. Stay tuned for more info to follow!

Petition for Religious Exercises (2019-20)

Hanover School Division Board of Trustees has received a petition requesting that religious exercises be held at Elmdale School during the 2019-20 school year. The petitioners have specified their desire for the recitation of the Lord's Prayer, and the reading of a Bible passage or story from the Bible. As the petition bears the signatures of parents/guardians representing more than 60 students in the school, the Board of Trustees has authorized religious exercises as specified above. These exercises are to be held before the official instructional day, in a designated common area of the school.

Petition for Religious Instruction (2019-20)

Hanover School Division Board of Trustees has received a petition requesting that religious instruction be held at Elmdale School during the 2019-20 school year. The petitioners have specified their desire for the Discovery Time Program offered by Child Evangelism Fellowship. As the petition bears the signatures of parents/guardians representing more than 25 students in the school, the Board of Trustees has passed the required by-law permitting religious instruction as specified above. This instruction is to be offered by volunteers during designated half-hour per week classes.

Parents/Guardians who did not sign the submitted petitions are eligible to join at any time, by

delivering a signed note to the school office. The note must indicate the name and grade of student for whom permission to participate is being given, and include parent/guardian signature. The school principal will forward all received documentation to the HSD Administration Office. Only children whose parents/guardians signed the petition or have subsequently joined via permission note, may participate in the exercises and instruction as described above.

Religious exercises and religious instruction in public schools may only be implemented by school boards in a manner consistent with the Public Schools Act and Provincial Guidelines, after petition by parents/guardians. Petitions must be presented to the board on an annual basis, in advance of the next school year. Original petitions must be submitted to the Hanover School Division Administrative Office by April 30th.

"Soup's On" provides daily school lunches to families in need. It can be started and stopped as needed. Contact our Resource Teacher Ms. Rose Friesen (rfriesen@hsd.ca) or your child's teacher via agenda book to register your child.

Please check our website for the bus pick up times and location near your house.
If your address has changed, please call transportation at 204-320-2347 to make sure that your children are riding the correct bus to and from school.
