Millswood Middle School News:
Millswood news:
- Día de los Muertos is a celebration that combines an Aztec custom and a Spanish holiday. This holiday is mostly celebrated in Mexico for two days. November 1st is dedicated to the children that have passed away and November 2nd is dedicated to the adults that are no longer with us. Day of the Dead is a happy celebration that brings families together to remember the deceased and celebrate their memory. Our 8th graders had the opportunity to celebrate this holiday by creating a real size ofrenda that is displayed in our school lobby. Some things you can find in the ofrendas are pictures of the deceased, their favorite foods, and items that represent their hobbies.
- Congratulations to Hector! He had the closest guess of the number of candy corn kernels in a jar. Hector missed the correct answer by only 1 number! We had over 200 students participate. Hector won the jar of candy and a gift card. Our faculty winner was Mr. Kaiser! Great job Grizzlies!
We had awesome participation in our spirit week last week and our door decorating contest. The winning classes will be announced on Monday. Thank you to our judges, Ms. Khoshaba, Ms. Kepner, Mrs. Cox, Mr. Tim, and Ms. Ludi.
Our kickball tournaments will wrap up next week and we will begin signing up for noon league basketball. Our basketball tournament will be organized into teams of three, so gather your friends and sign up at lunch Wednesday through Friday next week.
Our spirit days are going back to normal next week. Wednesday is House Day, Thursday is College Day, and Friday is Grizzly Gear Day.
