Dear DCMS Families,

We would like to inform you that DCMS students may wear Halloween costumes on Thursday, October 31st. Please note that costumes must adhere to our non-uniform policy and should not interfere with students’ duties or responsibilities. These guidelines are in place to ensure the safety of all DCMS students.

Building administrators will make the final evaluations to determine if any costumes or similar items are likely to be disruptive or pose a potential health or safety concern. Please be aware that failure to comply with the non-uniform policy may result in the loss of privileges or disciplinary actions.

Thank you for your cooperation and support in making this a fun and safe Halloween for all students!

Figueroa’s math: In math we will continue to work on Module 2 which involves percent chance, markups, discounts, taxes, gratuities, commissions, fees and simple interest

Varner’s science: In science, students will finish their module on energy and move into learning 7th grade chemistry principles.

Rodriguez and Esquibel’s ELA: ELA will continue in Unit 5 with the over arching theme of facing adversity. We will be studying new vocabulary, grammar and we will read about the life of Helen Keller

Camacho’s Connect: We will be recognizing Mexican Heritage month and Digital citizenship. Will conclude the month with a Day of the Dead activity.

Johnston’s social studies: We will wrap up our look at physical geography with an assessment on October 9. We will move into studying human geography. This includes a look at various culture traits such as family, government, religion, etc.

Spotlight on Mr. Shillington at Dodge City Middle School!

Dodge City Middle School is fortunate to have many outstanding teachers, and today we would like to spotlight Mr. Shillington. Mr. Shillington excels at creating a fun and engaging atmosphere in the weight room, where students love attending his classes and often hope to have his class on their schedules.

We are incredibly grateful for the way Mr. Shillington builds positive relationships with his students and meets them where they are by providing accommodations and modifications to his strength and conditioning program. This ensures that all students feel supported and successful, no matter their starting point.
