Want to the Join the Movement? DC Sisterhood is creating a Student Advisory Board for '21-'22. We are looking for 5-7 DC women, grades 9-12, who are willing to help us with making decisions about the DC Sisterhood, write thank you notes to community members, organize drives, and help fill restrooms among other things. The DC Sisterhood's mission is to provide feminine hygiene products to DC students.

Gear-Up Week Coming!

Join thousands of students, parents, teachers, partners and college access professionals from across the nation to celebrate GEAR UP and the successes of your hard work and dedication.

National GEAR UP Week is an opportunity for you to raise awareness in your community about the positive impact GEAR UP is having locally. It's a time to engage all your stakeholders - local, state and federal elected officials; funders; partners; and media - to share your program's accomplishments and to get them more involved with your services to students and families. Let's commemorate your hard work and the progress our students are making towards achieving their life-long dream of going to college!

Gear Up News

GEAR UP Connect will host an in-personal Oklahoma's Promise Night session on September 30th, 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Del City High School. Come out and receive help with completing your student's Oklahoma's Promise application. This program provides students with free tuition at Oklahoma post-secondary education institutions and a portion at career technology centers. Parents are encouraged to bring their student’s chrome book but other laptops will be on hand. Oklahoma's Promise Requirements: 1) Must be an Oklahoma resident, 2) Must enroll in the 8th, 9th, 10th or 11th grade, 3) The parents' federal adjusted gross income must not exceed $60K per year. Parents should bring their most recent tax forms.

Primero Pasos, or First Steps, is a program that reaches out to Latinx high school students to give them an idea of how UCO can be a part of their lives. This event understands the unique challenges that face these students and presents a platform that shows where UCO can excel in meeting their needs. As they look forward to college, the opportunities offered at UCO are showcased to these potential members of the UCO family. This year, the event will take place on Wednesday, September 15th in the Nigh University. Contact Ms. Bria or Ms. Sheka to sign up.
