Advisory
Today marks the final Advisory for the 2023-2024 school year. We are grateful to have this program and platform to engage students and faculty in meaningful Social and Emotional Lessons. Our sixth graders had a chance to ‘Chit-Chat’ to reflect on their first year in middle school. Through discussions and guided questions, students discussed topics that impact the daily lives of sixth graders.
In seventh grade, our students created a “Survival Guide” for the incoming seventh graders. This activity allows the students to reflect on their school year and helps prepare the incoming seventh-grade class. They gave them tips about how to be successful, manage friendships, manage time, and much more. The incoming seventh-grade class will review this guide at the beginning of next year to help them have a successful experience in seventh grade.
As the eighth graders wind down during their time here at LCJSMS, they get ready for the next chapter: high school. The Peer Leaders from the high school came to help prepare the eighth graders and get them excited about all that the high school has to offer. We hope it was informative, insightful, and reassuring. While change can be scary, the high school is a great school and has much to offer in all areas.

Dress Code
Middle school is a trying time for our students, and many struggle with navigating adolescent development. Many of those challenges include fitting in by wearing current, fashionable clothing and garments. While the administration at the middle school understands that clothing is an integral part of self-expression, we ask that all of our students wear clothing suitable for school. As the weather gets warmer, please keep this in mind as your child dresses for school. We want to ensure that our school is an appropriate place for learning. Links to our student handbook regarding dress code can be found here (on page 12).
