Matt's Message
February 5, 2025
Dear Districts 67 & 115 Community,
This weekend, much of America will be gathered around their TVs watching the Super Bowl. Whether you're cheering for your favorite team, eagerly awaiting Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show, or sticking around for the commercials, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. For some, the Super Bowl ads are even more memorable than the game itself. These commercials tell stories and honor legacies, often keying off a simple slogan or logo.
So, what better time than this to invite our community to help us design a limited-edition LFHS 90th Anniversary logo?
As Lake Forest Community High School approaches its 90th birthday during the 2025-2026 school year, all present, past, and future Scouts are invited to submit a commemorative logo design to celebrate nearly a century of LFHS educational excellence, student achievement, and community support. The winning 90th logo design will be featured at key anniversary events throughout the next school year.
Lake Forest High School 90th Anniversary Logo Contest
All past, present, and future Scouts—including students from Districts 65, 67, and 115
Judging
We’re excited about our esteemed Blue and Gold Ribbon panel of judges. We sincerely thank our volunteers representing the LFHS student body, community, and staff from Districts 65, 67, and 115.
Contest Deadline
All entries are due by 5:00 pm on Monday, March 3, 2025. A winner will be announced in early April.
Visit the LFHS 90th Anniversary Logo Contest Entry Form for complete contest details and to submit your design. I can’t wait to see your creative ideas for capturing the essence of LFHS’ proud legacy.
Thank you for helping us celebrate this milestone in true Scout spirit!
Warm regards,
Matthew L. Montgomery, Ph.D.
Superintendent

Students - Submit Your Service Hours for the 24-25 School Year
Lake Forest High School has moved away from using X2Vol to record service hours for this academic year.
All students should use this spreadsheet to record service hours for this current academic year. You will be prompted to make a copy of the spreadsheet. This link is also found in Scout Center under Extracurricular & School Life. All service hours, including general service hours, NHS, and those for the Presidential Service Award, are due by March 15.
If you can say YES to the following questions, your volunteer service is likely to be approved:*
Was the service done on behalf of others (not family members)?
Was the service done to assist others and for the good of the community?
Was this service completed voluntarily and without compensation (grade, class credit, club/sports team requirement or for pay)?
Was this service completed beyond a club’s membership hour requirement?
Was the service done outside the school day or during unscheduled school time?
Is the service consistent with the Lake Forest High School’s Mission and Vision?
NATIONAL HONORS SOCIETY
For NHS, please review the NHS guidelines on hours. Also, for the NHS application, you will need some sort of digital proof of your hours, which is covered in the document linked. If you have any NHS-based questions, please reach out to Mr. Holmer at cholmer@lfschools.net.
Once you have your service hours entered, please use this Google Form to submit your spreadsheet for service verification by the Student Activities Office.
