January - Matter
Jan. Week 2: States of Matter - Make Orange Soda @ Home!
Observation: Orange Soda is Fizzy and Yummy!
Question: Can I make orange soda at home?
Materials:
Orange Juice (pulp free)
Spoon
Baking Soda
Clear Cup
Optional: Straw
Investigation:
Pour ⅔ c. Orange Juice into a clear cup.
Mix a tsp. Baking Soda with the spoon.
Notice that after a minute the juice (liquid) reacts with the baking soda (solid) to create bubbles (gas).
This is drinkable - but you may want to use the straw to get past the bubbles.
Less sugar than soda, but clearly carbonated.
Results:
Take a picture and submit it to your teacher on SeeSaw!
Reflection:
Did you try it again with a full cup of juice? What happened?
