Welcome to the Redan S.A.F.E. Center’s Semester Highlights!
From August through December, the S.A.F.E. (Student and Family Engagement) Center has achieved significant milestones in community support, student engagement, and partnership development. Here are the semester’s key highlights:
What's happening in the S.A.F.E. Center?!?!
August 2024: Building Foundations
The S.A.F.E. Center welcomed a new S.A.F.E. Center Liaison, Juan Moore, whose leadership has been instrumental in enhancing the Center’s programs and services.
The Center began the school year with strategic planning and partnerships to expand services for Redan scholars and families.
The Center welcomed over 1,600 visits between August and December, providing critical support and services to students and families.
September 2024: Inspiring Entrepreneurship
Inspire Project Panel – Entrepreneurship Focus:
- In collaboration with Post-Secondary Transition Specialist Keydrick Barlow, the first Inspire Project Panel engaged 25-35 scholars in entrepreneurial skills and pathways.
October 2024: Programs and Initiatives in Full Swing
Raider’s Grocery Store Launch (10/10):
Opened its doors, providing food to families every Thursday from 1 PM to 3 PM.
Clothing & Hygiene Closet became fully operational, offering essential items including clothing, shoes, and school supplies.
Inspire Project Panel – Enlistment Focus:
The second Inspire Project Panel, held in October, focused on enlistment opportunities, engaging 25-35 scholars in exploring pathways in the armed forces.
Freaky FrightDay Event (10/25):
Hosted by SAFE Center Ambassadors, this event brought fun and engagement to Redan scholars. View Photos Here.
New Partnership with S.A.D.D. (10/24):
Added resources for student support and safety.
November 2024: Partnership Growth and Employment Focus
$5,500 Grant Awarded for Raider’s Groceries (11/8):
Enabled the purchase of a display fridge and deep freezer to store refrigerated items.
Inspire Project Panel – Employment Focus:
The final Inspire Project Panel of the semester, held in November, engaged 25-35 scholars in employment preparation and resources for post-secondary transitions.
Entrepreneurship Workshop (11/15):
45 scholars participated in a workshop hosted by Todd Gurley’s M.A.D.E. Foundation and the Atlanta Blockchain Center. View Photos Here.
New Partnership with Grady Hospital (11/14):
Opportunities for scholars to explore healthcare careers through overnight stays, summer internships, and athletic-friendly programs.
CARES Substance Use Program Completion (11/21):
Partnered with Caron to complete the first cohort, equipping scholars with knowledge on substance use prevention.
December 2024: Celebrating Achievements
Reading Raiders Book Drive Success (12/19):
Collected 1,450 books and distributed 2-3 books to every scholar at E.L. Miller Elementary, promoting literacy.
Mental Health Awareness Event (12/13):
“Hear My Voice” was hosted by Miss Redan High School, Iyanna Duncan, featuring Keshia Dennis, who shared her mental health journal with 30 scholars.
Grief and Loss Restorative Circles:
Initiated in December, led by SSW Katina Batts and supported by Mental Health Coordinator Dr. Robinson, providing a safe space for scholars to process grief and loss.
H-Pride Certification (12/6):
Redan High School was officially recognized as H-Pride Certified, marking a commitment to excellence and student success.

Milestone Accomplishments
Bridging The Gap
Total Food Distribution:
From August to December, the S.A.F.E. Center distributed a total of 27,070 pounds of food, highlighting its commitment to addressing food insecurity in the community.
Over 1,600 Visits:
The SAFE Center saw over 1,600 visits, providing essential services and support to students and families.

As we transition into 2025, the S.A.F.E. Center will continue to prioritize student and family engagement through innovative programs, essential services, and meaningful partnerships.
