HMS is Here to Help
We understand that making ends meet can be difficult for some families in our HPS community. Therefore, we want to let you know that there are individuals in each of our schools who are ready to provide information and assistance. Resources may be available to help families in times of financial need or other challenging situations. Our particular area of outreach is for food support for the upcoming holidays.
Please don’t hesitate to contact an administrator, the school nurse, or counseling personnel at your child's school if you are in need of food support for the holidays. Rest assured that your request will be managed in a way that respects your rights to confidentiality.
Private School Application Process
If your child plans to apply to a private school, please note that our school counselors require advance notice to handle these requests. To provide sufficient time to organize student records, gather teacher feedback, and provide thoughtful recommendations, we kindly request that you submit the required paperwork at least 15 school days before the earliest application deadline.
Additional information can be found on the HMS website: Private School Application Process

PTO News
Congratulations to our new School Council representatives, Joanna Novak and Stephanie Shuler!
Joanna is excited to be a part of the Hingham Middle School Community this year for the first time! She has a current sixth grader at HMS while her 3rd grader and kindergartener attend South Elementary School. She and her husband, Ryan, moved from Pittsburgh six years ago and have loved making Hingham home. Joanna works as an attorney, is a troop leader for Hingham Girl Scouts and volunteers at the Hingham Public Library.
After two successful decades marketing investment opportunities to financial advisors across North and Latin America for major financial firms, Stephanie Shuler now focuses on investments that honor her clients' commitment to the environment and social justice. She also makes time to substitute teach in Hingham, which she greatly enjoys. Stephanie holds a BA in Spanish and English from the University of Michigan. Having completed most of her own K-12 schooling in Connecticut, Stephanie and her husband were delighted to return from 20+ years of work in Colorado and California to raise their two young children in Hingham.

Pop Up Art Workshop - Felted Ghost
Sat. 10/26 2:30-4:00 PM @ HPL
The Hingham Public Library welcomes back Pop Up Art School for a fun, spooky art workshop! In this fun, hands-on class, you'll create a cute ghost holding an orange pumpkin. Using just wool and a needle, a skilled instructor will guide you through each step. By the end of the session, you'll have a delightful handmade ghost to take home! Each participant will learn the basics of needle felting and take home their finished piece, a foam block, needles, and the skill to continue your felting journey independently.
Registration is required for this event! To register, visit our website and sign-up online, or call or stop by our Children's Desk for assistance. This event is open to young adults in Grade 6 and up. Questions? Contact our YA Librarian, Meghan McCusker: mmccusker@ocln.org.
