GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS
We cannot wait to fill the State House with the buzz of charter schools and all the amazing things you are doing in your communities. Our theme this is WE ARE HERE! MAPCS will not be providing transportation or parking. MAPCS will be scheduling meetings, if requested. We will provide meeting space at the Church in the Circle (St. Anne's Church) and food during the event. We are asking that every school attend and bring a minimum of 10 advocates.
Please complete the registration survey (https://forms.gle/w8tkGgT7D4NopHiv5) with your school's Point of Contact, their information, time frame of your visit, and indicate which virtual training they are attending.

UPDATED STEM/MAKER'S FAIRE TIMELINE
Invitation to the 31st Annual Brother 2 Brother Youth Conference
On behalf of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Beta Chapter (in association with Mu Lambda Chapter), I am pleased to invite you and your students to participate in the 31st Annual Brother 2 Brother Youth Conference.
This year’s conference will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, on the campus of Howard University. The conference aims to inspire African-American male youth in the DMV area to pursue higher education. Throughout the day, participants will engage in various workshops, hear from impactful speakers, and take part in a tour of Howard University’s campus.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all students attending. There is no maximum number of students from your school who can attend; however, please note that we anticipate having space for up to 300 participants.
For more details, please review the attached packet, which may answer any additional questions you may have.
Tentative Conference Schedule:
• 8:30 AM: Students arrive on campus
• 9:00 – 10:00 AM: Breakfast & Registration
• 10:15 – 11:00 AM: Workshop 1
• 11:15 AM – 12:00 PM: Workshop 2
• 12:15 – 1:00 PM: Workshop 3
• 1:15 – 2:00 PM: Lunch & Keynote Speaker
• 2:15 – 3:00 PM: Workshop 4 & Essay Awards
• 3:00 PM: Dismissal
Additionally, we would like to remind you about the conference’s essay contest. The essay submission deadline is February 9, 2025. All essays should be submitted in Microsoft Word format to both djmcewen50@gmail.com and aphiabeta1907@gmail.com.
There are two essay categories:
• Grades 6-8
• Grades 9-12
While prizes for this year’s winners are still being determined, for reference, last year’s prizes included two Xbox Series S consoles donated by Microsoft. Unfortunately, these prizes went unclaimed due to a lack of essay submissions.

CMIT SOUTH SPANISH TUTORING
Are you looking to boost your Spanish skills this year? If so, don't miss the opportunity to attend Ms. Tejeda's Spanish tutoring sessions! She offers personalized assistance for both middle and high school students every Thursday after school from 3:00 to 4:15 PM in room 162. Sibling application for 2025-2026 SY
Good afternoon CMIT Family,
Attached you will find the new sibling preference form for the 2025-2026 year lottery. This form must be submitted along with the online lottery application. The lottery application will be opened from November 1, 2024 -February 7, 2025.
Please note:
Sibling preference is not guaranteed and is based on seat availability for that particular grade level.

WHEN TO STAY HOME FROM SCHOOL/WORK
To CMIT parents/guardians
Please encourage your scholar to bring in their water to school or water bottle for refill. The school nor the nurse's office do not provide bottle water or cups to student.
If you know your child is experiencing any of the flu- like symptoms please monitor him/her before sending to school. COVID is still around
ATHLETICS NEWS
Week Recap:
It was another action-packed week for our basketball teams! Let’s break it down:
JV Boys Basketball
- Monday: Kicked off the week with a tough loss to Lanham Christian Academy.
- Tuesday: Pulled off a thrilling road victory against Potomac HS in a tough environment.
- Thursday: Fought hard but fell at home against Douglass HS in a competitive battle.
Varsity Boys Basketball
- Tuesday: Earned a solid victory against Potomac HS.
- Thursday: Despite a valiant effort, the team took a tough loss to Douglass.
Varsity Girls Basketball
- Tuesday: Bounced back from last week's loss vs. Oxon Hill to defeat Potomac HS.
- Thursday: A tough road matchup at Douglass resulted in a loss, but our girls are hungry to bounce back next week!
Next week, our JV and Varsity Boys look to get back in the win column with three games, while our Varsity Girls prepare for three key battles!

Please support the Class of 2028 Double Good fundraiser.
The fundraiser starts on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 5:00 PM and ends on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 5:00 PM.

BRIDGE BUILDING COMPETITION- OUR STUDENTS SHINE
Dear CMIT-S MS HS Families,
We are thrilled to share exciting news with you! On September 1st, our school hosted a Bridge Building Competition, and we are proud to announce that our students achieved outstanding results. Our talented kids secured First and Second Place in the competition, showcasing not only their creativity but also their teamwork, engineering skills, and determination.
This remarkable performance is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of our students. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the administration for their unwavering support throughout this event.
We wish our students the best of luck as they move forward in the national competition. We have no doubt they will continue to excel!
