Shining Stars: Celebrating Our September Student Leaders
Jasper Case
Jasper has been such a great leader this month. He is always working hard and persevering through any difficult task. Jasper loves learning, comes to school daily with a positive attitude, and is prepared for the day. He is always making proactive choices and follows directions the first time. I can always count on him to listen, volunteer his ideas with a quiet hand, and collaborate with others. Jasper is a great example of being respectful, responsible, safe, and kind. He has gone out of his way to help his classmates and others at recess. Jasper has the kindest heart and always wants others to feel included.

Emotional Bank Account
By Liam Smith & Victoria Duran
During Leader in Me, we are learning about emotional bank accounts. Emotional bank accounts are something that people use to build trust with others. We put money in others’ accounts when we are nice to each other, give hugs, give special thank yous, and not forget the most important one of them all: Please, thank you, and you're welcome.
If you care about others you should fill people's bank accounts. You can even fill your own to make yourself happy in your own special ways special ways.
Popsicles in the Park
By Liam Smith & Victoria Duran
Once upon a time, kids got an award by getting tickets for being respectful, responsible, safe, and kind. What award did they get you may ask? A trip to the park with some popsicles. On Friday, September 27th the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders got popsicles and then they went and got to play at Bronson Backyard. And then you saw the smiles on the kids' faces, oh, the joy there was! Filling up the whole playground with smiles. And when we reach our goal again I’m sure you will see smiles all over.
3rd Grade Project Red (Rural Education Day)
Project Red is a field trip for 3rd graders in Branch County. Classes come to Branch Area Career Center’s Land Lab to learn about various aspects of agriculture. In 2024 children learned about sheep, pigs, bees, myths and facts surrounding ag as well as goats and the Conservation District taught them about the water cycle & kinds of soil.
4th Grade Trip to Hayes State Park
Ryan Elementary students participated in the Nature Awaits program offered by the State of Michigan. The program aims to make sure Michigan’s kids learn that our state parks are for everyone, and that a lifetime of spending time outdoors is good for our physical and mental health. Each park has a trained educator who focused on meeting 4th grade curriculum standards including science, social studies, physical fitness and language arts through experiential learning outdoors.
**Students received a junior ranger badge and guidebook. On the back of the guidebook is a free pass for the students to bring their families back to any state park for another visit.
