"Where it's always a great day to be a Bison!"
A Note from Ms. Marlatt
Dear Bison Families,
Welcome back for the last 2 months of school! It is hard to believe we are so close to the end. As usual, we end the school year with a bang! We can look forward to Field Day, grade level field trips, park visits, kindergarten graduation and 5th grade continuation. We are excited to celebrate with you!
Just a reminder that we continue to track attendance and take absences very seriously. We can not help your child grow academically when he/she is not present! On time (7:45am), everyday is our motto, and we hope to see all Bison at school, everyday.
We as a district are out of snow days. This means that, in the event our schools need to close for inclement weather or otherwise, we will engage with students remotely. If we have a suspicion we will close, we will take steps to communicate with you and send chrome books home with our K-3rd grade students.
CMAS starts in April! Our district requires a dialer goes out so communication is clear about testing. It is important we encourage our Bison to do their best, and do our part at home to ensure success! Making sure your kids get a good night of sleep and a good breakfast is important everyday, but this becomes especially important during our testing weeks. Please watch for the dialer coming specifically about CMAS, and thank you for encouraging your child at home!
Lastly, our district website has changed! The work is not complete yet and Janina and I will be making sure the right information is available for all of you. Please take a look if you haven't already. It looks good! It will take some patience understanding all of the new pages, but it will be worth it.
Thank you for sharing your children with us,
Ana Marlatt

Marigold Awards
Every quarter, our Second Creek Leadership recognizes our Marigolds in our midst. In a garden, Marigolds are companions plants. When planted next to other plants, these flowers help the garden grow! Staff Marigolds are the ones who are positive, share their positivity with others and promote a healthy culture for all. They see solutions to problems and mantain a positove attitide when things get hard. They don't gossip but lift others up in their conversation. Our 2 quarter Marigolds are Ms. Lizzy Ramirez and Ms. Daisy Ortiz! We want to thank our PTO for contributing an Amazon gift card for our Marigolds very quarter!

Traffic Reminders
If you are a returning family to Second Creek, you know our parking lot is small and needs special care during morning drop off and afternoon pick up. Thank you for contributing to the overall safety of our staff and students!
If you are a new family to Second Creek, please read the information below carefully. Staff and sometimes Commerce City police are out during morning drop off and afternoon dismissal to make sure everyone is safe.
Parents, it is very important that we do not park on the bus lane before or after school. Blocking the bus causes delays that go beyond our school.
Here are a few reminders about our drop off and pick up procedures. You know that Commerce City police pops in once in a while and issue tickets to vehicles that are not following our safety rules... so please make sure you are doing what you can do keep our students and staff safe!
- No parked cars in the "no parking zone" - which is by the sidewalk from the beginning of the parking lot all the way to the front doors. This is a fire lane and also a bus lane. There is NO PARKING anytime. Only drop off or pick up. We have noticed many cars parked waiting for the school to open in the morning, blocking the bus and causing lines of cars that go all the way outside the parking lot. Please drop off your student and go - no parking.
- Same rules apply for pick up after school.
- Students can be dropped off at 7:30am. We do not have supervision for students who are dropped off before these times.
- If you drop your student off late, you have to come in and sign your student in at the front office.
- Students must be picked up at 3:30pm every day. We do not have staff to supervise students after school.
- Let us know if you need information about our before and after-school program.
- Please only use the handicap parking if you have a handicap license.
- The Staff of the Month parking is for staff only at all times.
We appreciate your cooperation!
