Scene Around 622
Day of the Dead event
A taco truck was posted outside and guests could see an ofrenda as they came into the event. Inside, there was face painting and a typical Latino bingo game called lotería. The highlight was Tartan’s Club Latino dancing two Día de Muertos Folklore dances and North’s LatinX group doing an original mix of social dances. The group Mariachi Alma de Mexico entertained the crowd and Tartan’s Club Latino even folklore danced along with the Mariachi during two of their songs.
This 3rd annual event has proven to be a wonderful way of sharing the Latino culture within the district with the whole community.
North HBCU Tours
Over MEA weekend, 16 North students toured six Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) in North and South Carolina. All of the students who attended are part of the North Black Student Union (BSU).
Students fundraised for the tour and also received funding from Best Buy, World Architects, The Sanneh Foundation and North Staff.
School-Age Care team professional development
A special thank you to the East Metro Consortium and Roseville School-Age Care for graciously hosting this valuable event.
Career Connect Day
Students from Tartan and North attended the 3rd annual Career Connect Day held at the RiverCentre in St. Paul. Career Connect Day was an opportunity for students to interact with local organizations and businesses to explore future career paths as they begin making decisions about post-high school education and training.
College Knowledge Month
18 different post secondary options and over 80 students attended 5 WIN time (advisory) sessions at North during College Knowledge Month. The format included 3-4 panelists, a 3-5 min Introduction, Q&A with students and tabeling with students. Students that attended found the sessions very informative and they liked being able to talk with the reps in a smaller environment.

Community Resources
Measles and the MMR vaccine
Minnesota has identified cases of measles in children who recently returned to the U.S. after traveling internationally. The decline in measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine coverage, coupled with the increase in measles disease nationally and internationally, puts Minnesota at risk of additional measles cases and a measles outbreak.
MDH has information about measles and the MMR vaccine: https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/measles/measlesfacts.html
If your child has any symptoms, please contact your medical provider and school nurse.
Ramsey County Vaccination Clinics
Ramsey County is offering vaccinations clinics. More information can be found on the Ramsey County website.
Washington County Vaccination Clinics
Washington County is offering monthly vaccination clinics. Appointments can be scheduled on the Washington County website.
