New Superintendent Appointed
Dr. Myriam Yarbrough appointed next superintendent of Baltimore County Public Schools
The Board of Education of Baltimore County has selected Dr. Myriam Yarbrough, who currently serves as BCPS deputy superintendent, as its candidate for the superintendency, contingent upon final employment contract negotiations. The appointment has been approved by State Superintendent Mohammed Choudhury, as required by Maryland law.
A series of public meetings is being planned to facilitate communications between the community and Dr. Yarbrough prior to her assuming the superintendency on July 1.

Workshop: May 31 – 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM Bullying, Harassment & Intimidation of Students with Disabilities
A virtual presentation by Special Education Resource Center
One out of five students report being bullied. Students with disabilities are 2 to 3 times more likely to be bullied than their non-disabled peers. This presentation will begin with an overview of federal and state laws and regulations, guidance from federal government, and policies about bullying, harassment, and intimidation. Participants will then learn tips and strategies to address this issue in the home, school, community.

Staff from the Baltimore County Public Library are excited that the Summer Reading Challenge will begin prior to the last day of school. Children of all ages can join the challenge and log their reading on Beanstack or a paper game board. Read for 10 hours to pick up a completion prize and enter in prize drawings!

What is Parent University
Parent University is offered through the BCPS Office of Family and Community Engagement, which we affectionately call FACE! We provide tools and resources to BPCS families to support learning at home. We offer these resources through in-person and virtual workshops hosted by community members and schools, our newsletter, and the Parentmobile. We also have a large collection of online resources. We hope you enjoy what we have to share.
