Peterson's Message- K3 Director
Hello Team MCP3!
Thank you all for your engagement on Friday for our monthly PD! We became familiar with the ASQ, the developmental screener we use at MCP and its purpose. Teams took time to review the information summary sheets for their scholars and plan specific learning activities that will support their growth and development. I enjoyed walking around observing the teamwork and listening to your ideas. A picture of the listed activities teams shared out is included below for your reference. Be sure to use this scholar tracker for those families that return the ASQ and to encourage families who have not to do so ASAP! If families are not going to complete the screener, we need to have a waiver on file (Youngstar Evaluation Criteria Verification for High-Quality Practice 4).
Shout out to Moon, who led another ECERS-3 subscales PD! The two subscales we learned about are both under the Language and Literacy section of ECERS. #12- Helping Children Expand Vocabulary and #13- Encouraging Children to use Language are our next focus. Shout out to Moon for pushing through without her voice and modeling how staff can use "show and tell" to encourage scholars' use of language and expand on vocabulary! Every classroom has received two wordless picture books and will receive a couple more in the next couple of days. Using wordless picture books is a great way to expand on vocabulary and encourage language with our scholars! I can't wait to hear how these go in your small groups with your scholars. Reach out if you would like me to come in and model a small group or team teach with you!
Thank you for participating in the holiday fun with our Left-Right Christmas Story, the Gift Exchange, The Knick and/or the MCP Holiday Party. Happy Holidays to you and your family. I hope that all of you enjoy the break, the time with family and friends, and have a happy new year!
Our Winter Program is this Friday @ 9:00! Please be sure you are practicing each day. It is important to also have them practice walking up to the "stage" and facing the same direction in a line just as they will for the actual program. Encourage scholars to use their loud voices, explain to them that there will be parents there watching, and that there will be microphones set up. They should stay in their line and NOT touch the microphones. We will be having a rehearsal in the gym-Thursday @ 10:45.
Let's have a great week together!
With all the Love and Respect,
Peterson

Urban Ecology Center PEEP Program Information
Each classroom will participate in an indoor Winter program here at MCP3. These fun programs combine puppets, natural items and a live animal for the kids to meet. They are very engaging, 45-60 minutes long.
Each class then gets a follow-up experience with a field trip to the Urban Ecology Center in the Spring. These are perfect 1st field trips, very age appropriate and lots of fun! We provide the transportation in our UEC buses which are outfitted with 5 point harnesses. Field trips are 2 hrs long (door-to-door).
See below for your class' specific dates for the above programs. I have also added these to our MCP3 Google Calendar and plan to add them to Dojo soon.
