LPS Tiger Talk
October 27, 2023
Principal's Message
Dear LPS Families,
We had a very exciting week celebrating our Tigers! We recognized our October Terrific Tigers yesterday and today while also hosting visits to our Tiger Trading Post. The Trading Post is part of our Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) system and allows our students an opportunity to trade the Tiger Tickets they've earned for cool prizes and recognition. There are different levels and a variety of items for students to consider. This pushes our students to develop and use some "soft skills" with delayed gratification, managing/budgeting how and when to spend their Tiger Tickets, and overall decision making. We love celebrating the great things our students do each month and this is just one small component of our overall PBIS system.
It was also great seeing select LPS staff and students highlighted during the district Showcase event this week. We had several things on display including our Buddy System, student artwork, our Kindness Club, along with some cool Science (STEM) opportunities. We were even able to showcase some of our intervention & enrichment systems used to maximize growth and ensure student success. We were excited to show off a small sample of the great things happening at LPS each day during this annual, district wide event.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend and we will see our Tigers on Monday!
Sincerely,
Kevin Fancher

Storybook Costume Parade and Fall Parties, Oct. 31st
Mark your calendars! We are excited to announce our upcoming Storybook Costume Parade and Fall Parties taking place on Tuesday, October 31st. For this special event, students are invited to dress up as a favorite character for the day. Students will come to school in their costumes. Please no masks or weapons and ensure that your child is easily able to get in and out of their costume in order to use the restroom.
The Parade will be from 1:45-2:15 pm on the LPS playground. Families are welcome to attend and watch our First & Second Graders along the parade route - weather permitting. Make sure to arrive in advance to allow enough time to park at Shoppers' Haven (across the street from our building) and walk around the back of our school to our playground. PLEASE NOTE: In case of inclement weather, a Tiger Talk will be sent out the morning of the event to let families know the event is canceled for them. We will still celebrate with our students, but won't be able to host families if the event has to be moved indoors.
Fall Parties will take place after the parade from 2:30-3:30. Only parents who have signed up with their child's teacher to volunteer for the party will be allowed to enter the building after the parade.
Gifted Testing
The state of Ohio requires that school districts provide an identification procedure for gifted/talented students. However, per the Ohio Department of Education, school districts are not required to serve. Click HERE to learn more about how Loveland serves gifted students. Loveland offers full grade testing in second and fourth grades. If students/parents/teachers wish to refer a student for gifted testing outside of the full-grade testing options, referral forms are available from the school office. The referral testing options will take place during November and February. If you would like to refer your child for fall testing, the form is due to the LPS school counselor no later than November 9, 2023. If you have any questions, please contact Darcie Chandler (School Counselor) at chandlda@lovelandschools.org.
Growing With The Loveland Learning Garden
What’s the difference between invasive and native plants and the look of our schoolyard nature trail? During outdoor lessons this year, students have identified non-natives and even had some fun pulling invasive plants like garlic mustard.
We need your help to do more! Come out to the nature trail this Saturday anytime between 9-12 pm as we work to clear invasive honeysuckle. Follow the driveway by McDonald's to the back of the school and park by the tree line past the bus lot. Contact info@lovelandlearninggarden with questions.

Bus Safety Reminder
Loveland Tiger Familes,
Our highest priority is for the safety of our students and staff, which includes the ride on the bus to and from school each day. As the month of October winds down, we wanted to remind everyone of some bus safety precautions, especially because October represents National School Bus Safety Week.
Here are some safety tips to keep in mind to review with your bus rider (student reminders):
Be at the bus stop before the scheduled pickup time.
Never chase a bus, this can be dangerous as the driver may not be able to see you.
Remain at the safety spot until the bus has pulled away.
Students should report any safety concerns to the driver immediately.
Here are some parent/guardian reminders:
Contact the appropriate administrator (listed below) for any changes for your bus rider. Students are not permitted to board buses they are not designated to ride.
Parents should NOT approach the bus driver and/or board a school bus at the bus stop to discuss any concerns.
All safety concerns and discussions should take place with the Transportation Department Director or the appropriate building administrator. Listed below is the contact information to report any bus concerns.
