The 4thgrade has begun Math centers activities, which were planned to support the class in their chapter on place value. Each center was designed to review different concepts of numbers and operations of place value in a different way. The 4thgrade had a lot of fun putting their knowledge of place value into action!
There were three stations set up around the room that students could work on:
1) Place Value Riddles: The students were given a card with 4-5 clues about a number on it. They used the clues to write the number being described (i.e. the tens place is 10 times the value of the ones place.)
2) Whole Number Puzzles: Students matched 3 puzzle pieces to find the three representations of the same whole number: number form, word form, and expanded form.
3) Roll and Round: The students had a stack of number cards to choose from. They then roll the dice with a place value (ten, hundreds, thousands, etc.) on each side. The dice tells which place value to round their number to.
