PreACT ASSESSMENTS
The PreACT will be February 7th from 8-12:00 PM in Room 100.
We have 75 spots available.
The cost of the exam is $18.00
Sign up will be in the Student Service Office.

REQUIREMENT REMINDER:
1. Athlete must earn at least seven (7) SBHS Sanctioned athletic letters in their high school career.
2. Of the seven (7) career letters, an athlete must earn a minimum of five (5) athletic letters during their junior and senior years.
3. Of the five (5) letters earned, one (1) Club Sport letter (Baseball or Rodeo) may be used if it is not used in the same season in conjunction with another athletic letter.
4. Of the five (5) letters earned, one (1) Sideline Cheer letter (football, basketball) can be used as long as it is not used in the same season in conjunction with another athletic letter.
5. Only Letters earned as a Varsity athlete team member count
6. Any athlete wishing to qualify for the White Letter Scholar Athlete must have a cumulative rolling GPA of 2.50 at the time of application or after the first semester grades during an individual’s senior year have been officially posted.
7. The administration reserves the right to waive certain criteria based on some things that could be out of control of the athlete. This may include: injury and/or illness. All decisions of the administration will be final in these unusual cases.
8. A minimum of twenty-four (24) points are required.
Senior Three Sport Athlete Award
Any senior that will letter in three (3) different sports in three (3) different seasons this school year. Sanctioned or Club sports apply. (Club Sports are: Spring Rodeo and Spring Baseball)

GIRLS STATE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS NOW
As a high school junior, you could be given the opportunity to attend the American Legion Auxiliary South Dakota Girls State on the university campus in Vermillion, SD. The purpose of Girls State is to help you understand and appreciate the American form of government which includes learning about your rights, privileges and responsibilities of citizenship. During the week-long session you will also hear many outstanding people speak concerning their elective or appointive offices in the state.
Please understand that if you are accepted, the week will be no cost to you and bus transportation will be provided by your local Auxiliary unit. You must arrive on time at the USD campus between 1 and 4 pm on Monday, June 3. You are REQUIRED to remain on campus during the entire week (through noon on Saturday, June 8).

The SD Association of Plumbing-Heating-Cooling contractors is a trade association representing plumbing, heating and cooling contractors in south Dakota. The provide training, advocacy, information, and networking opportunities.
Each year, they host an annual state convention which includes speakers, a trade show, and hands-on apprentice competition. In an effort to encourage students to consider the plumbing, heating, and cooling industry, they are inviting students to attend and visit with local contractors about career opportunities in the industry.

SBHS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
Three teachers are available to help students with homework on TUESDAYS, WEDNESDAYS, and THURSDAYS. Students should arrive by 3:30 PM but can leave whenever they complete their work if they have their own ride. Students who need a late bus pass are required to stay until 5:15 PM.

Important information as you prepare for your Senior Year
***Information below is subject to change. Please watch the SBHS Announcements and the Class of 2024 Google Classroom for updates.***
- February 1 – Many Local Scholarship Applications open. See Student Services website for full details.
- March 29 – 3:15 p.m. Deadline for class poem* and class song nominations on 2024 Google Classroom.
- Song submissions must include printed lyrics as well as a YouTube link and must not include any reference to alcohol, drugs, illicit behavior, profanity, etc. (This is a happy moment and will play while you hand out your flower at graduation, so the song should properly fit the occasion.)
- Submitted poems should be school appropriate original work and will be read by author at graduation.
- April 1—Most Local Scholarship Applications are due. Check each individual scholarship for specific deadlines. See Judy Weisz, Registrar, if you have questions.
- April 9-12 —Online voting for class poem and class song through 2024 Google Classroom
- Week of April 15– Make class awards in Room 303 (Mrs. Kaufman) during Scooper Time until we are done
- April 19- 3:15 p.m—Deadline to sign up for Graduation Speaker Try-Outs on 2024 Google Classroom. (*If your poem is selected, you cannot audition for speaker as you will be reading the poem at graduation.)
- April 24 & 25—Graduation Speaker try-outs in Room 113 (Mrs. Holzbauer)
- April 29-May 3—Online voting for Class Awards on 2024 Google Classroom
- May 13 – 8:00 AM—Senior Walk, pick up Senior Checkout Sheet, and complete Exit Survey
- May 15—Turn in Checkout sheet and computer
14. May 17— 9:00 AM Scholarships and Awards Ceremony

b. Dress expectations are as follows:
Ladies: Dress, skirt and blouse, dress pants and blouse; shoes - No flip flops or tennis shoes and
shoes must have a back strap.
Gentlemen: Dress slacks, black jeans, dress shirt; shoes - No flip flops and no tennis shoes.
c. Additional adornments to the original dress of a cap and gown, include honor cords, honors tassels, National Honor Society stoles, military uniform if basic training has been completed, traditional tribal regalia -- an eagle feather or eagle plume (SDCL 13-1-66), tribal beading of cap or gown and a star quilt on chair.
d. No other hat decorations permitted.
