Area 30 Students Earn 2,290 in Dual Credits
Area 30 partners with Ivy Tech Community College, Vincennes University, and Indiana State University to provide college level classes to students enrolled at Area 30. This year our students have received 2,290 dual credits. Saving them $509,018.71. Students are able to transfer these credits to any college in Indiana, some allowing them to start as a sophomore. Kory Galloway (CHS) Honored with a 2025 Indiana CTE Award for Excellence
Kory Galloway, a senior at Cloverdale High School and Area 30 Career Center, has been awarded a prestigious 2025 Award for Excellence for Outstanding Secondary CTE Student by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education and the Indiana Association for Career and Technical Education.
Nominated by his Area 30 Fire and Rescue instructor, Mr. James Shaw, Kory exemplifies the qualities of excellence, dedication, and service. Kory has been a student at Area 30 for the past three years. He completed one year in the Law Enforcement program followed by two years in the Fire and Rescue program.
Kory made history as the very first Area 30 Fire and Rescue intern at the Greencastle Fire Department. His year-long internship provided a hands-on experience in the daily life of a firefighter—ranging from station routines and teamwork to the high-pressure demands of emergency response. Mr. Shaw witnessed Kory's commitment to public service firsthand and remarked:
"Kory is an immensely dedicated young man. He has the heart to serve his community with humility, courage, and dedication. Without pay or any upfront reward he has spent his last few years of school training and responding to emergencies giving him one of the best starts to his career in the fire service that I have ever witnessed. I have no doubt that he will achieve his goals and have a fulfilling life after high school."
Kory will continue his education by pursuing an Emergency Medical Technician certificate at Ivy Tech Community College–Bloomington. In addition to his studies, Kory will also be working part-time with the Ellettsville Fire Department. After completing his degree, Kory plans to return to Putnam County and serve in a local fire department.
