“The Hollywood Fun Run | Save the Dates!”
We're excited to introduce this year's main fundraiser, the Hollywood Fun Run. Our goal this year is to raise $15,000 for Primary Playground Shade and New Picnic Tables for the Intermediate Playground to benefit ALL students at Hollywood Elementary.
We’re excited for this fundraising experience because it offers 3 important things to our school community:
1️⃣ User-friendly fundraising platform
2️⃣ Character enrichment program
3️⃣ Fitness-focused event that includes ALL of our students
As a family, you will work together asking friends and family to donate on your student’s Donation Page at MyBooster.com. The best part is, you can still support our school just by SHARING about the fundraiser!
Students will also experience an amazing character enrichment program called “Castle Quest”, teaching students about how to be brave and live with character.
Key Dates to Remember:
💻 Sign up online at MyBooster.com – 10/17/2024
🎉 Fundraiser Kickoff in school – 10/24/2024
👟 Event Day – 11/04/2024
More details to come! Follow our social pages for updates on our fundraiser.
Online Emergency Information Update Messaging
Effective communication is critical to the success of St. Mary’s County Public Schools (SMCPS). This will be crucial not only for emergencies but for our ability to communicate with families in general. Online Emergency Information Update Forms are now available through the student’s Home Access Center (HAC). Once logged in, directions to access the online form can be found HERE. A video with instructions is available HERE. It is vital that all information is updated in eSchool. The deadline for the online submission of Emergency Information Update forms is October 31st, 2024. Please click here for the Blank Emergency Form. If you have any questions, please contact The Department of Student Services at 301-475-5511 ext.32150.
HES Focus on ATTENDANCE
ATTENDANCE Incentives
Hollywood Families, To encourage our students to attend school daily we are introducing a new attendance incentive. We are happy to introduce our "Hollywood Heron Attendance All-Stars." Each homeroom has a strip that spells the word "ATTENDANCE." If a homeroom has all students on time and present they get to color in one of these letters. The goal is to complete strips in a timely manner. Each grade level will be working together. The grade level with the most strips turned in each month will receive a celebration and a special badge of recognition for them to display in their house area.

From the Media Center
The Fall Book Fair will begin on Friday, October 11th and run through Friday, October 18th. This morning you should have received an email all about the Book Fair. You can read the Book Fair Newsletter, if you did not receive it.
Don't forget to set up an eWallet for student(s). This is a great way to make sure your student(s) can shop at the Book Fair and you don't have to send them with cash to school. If you had funds left over from the last book fair, you will need to use the same email address to set up the eWallet. You will be asked to fund the eWallet with those left over funds. Then you can add additional funds.
You can contribute to the All for BOOKS eWallet, if you don't have cash to send in the baggie that was sent home. This is our way to help put books into kids' hands! We will also be running a contest to see who the students want to wear a monster hat, Mrs. DiRenzo or Mr. Rodkey. All students who round up their purchases to the nearest dollar will be given a ticket to vote.
If you want to volunteer, please sign up on the Book Fair Sign-Up Genius. If the slotted hours don't work for you, please contact Miss Hazuda (sjhazuda@smcps.org) and we can work out a time for you to come in and help.

Birthday Treats
Birthday treats present the potential for allergic reactions for many of our students. They also interrupt instruction. However, we understand that some students enjoy celebrating their birthday with their friends at school. Because of all of these factors, birthday treats may NOT be edible. Gift bags with stickers, pencils, crayons, erasers, and/or other small toys are acceptable. They can also be shared at recess or the end of the day which doesn’t compromise instructional time. Parents who wish to provide birthday treats to a class are asked to notify the homeroom teacher in advance and to drop them off in the front office as early as possible.
