Good Afternoon RPI Families,

I hope this note finds you doing well and enjoying the weekend. I wanted to take a minute to address 2 very important things:

1. Lunches: I have received a number of communications from people that basically state "my student is afraid if they wait in the lunch line they will miss the bus," or "the lines are too long and I'll miss my bus." I want to clarify this and ask that you talk to your son/daughter about this. THEY WILL NOT MISS THEIR BUS. Mrs. Whitaker and I have a walkie talkie that connects directly to transportation. They wait to hear from us that the lunch lines are done and that kids are out to the busses. I will talk to the kids about this on Monday!
2. Drop Off/Pick Up: PLEASE WATCH THIS VIDEO if you didn't last week. This takes effect Monday Morning/Afternoon.

This weeks character strength is: Curiosity

It was so great to hear students sharing and talking about their "Top 3" character strengths. The connections they made with one another were quite remarkable.

As we dive into our week on CURIOSITY, I would encourage all of our Rocket Families to explore THIS CHARACTER STRENGTH Card (click the link).

This quote from Walt Disney really resonates with our kids:

"We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths."

This is so important for us to consider because likely the jobs our kids will have when they get older haven't even been thought of yet. How can curiosity prepare them for their future? Their relationships? Etc.

Food Service has updated our menu for the remainder of the month. We are moving to 1 lunch item per day in order ease our transition at the end of the day.

This year, the RPI Staff have been challenged with "being a light" for our students. The reality is that anyone can be a light for someone else. This is the spirit of the Positivity Project and will be a guide for us this year. If you have a great story to share with us about how one of our students is being a light to someone else or how they have grown in their own lives, we would love for you to share with us.

• Starting Monday (September 14 -- Tomorrow), Virtual students can pick up their lunch/breakfast meals at the high school from 2pm-3pm. Please enter off of Giles Road!
• You will receive 5 days of breakfast and lunch when you pick it up!

All students who are dropped off at school need to follow these guidelines for a safe start and end of the day:

• Students need to be dropped off in the Getty Street Parking Lot.
• Students need to exit the vehicle on the passenger side ONLY when the car is located near a side walk.
• DO NOT drop your student off and ask them to walk in front of another car. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.

The start and end of the day are likely going to be congested and some people may be less than patient. Please treat each other with grace, patience and understanding. If we all do this, OUR KIDS will remain safe and see a great example of how to react during stressful times.
