Principal's Message
Dear Randle High School Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2024/2025 school year! We are brimming with excitement as we prepare for a year filled with incredible opportunities and achievements for our students. Our entire team is eagerly looking forward to engaging with your children in ways that will foster their academic growth and personal development.
As we embark on this journey, we want to share some important expectations and initiatives to ensure a successful and enriching year for all. We are setting high standards for our students, particularly regarding their use of cellular devices and headphones. Our goal is to minimize distractions and keep our students focused on their individual academic goals. By prioritizing concentration and engagement, we are confident that each student can meet and exceed our high academic expectations.
Our primary mission is to deliver a first-class, high-quality education every day. We strive to model P.R.I.D.E. – Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, and Excellence – in every aspect of our school community. We believe that working in partnership with you, our valued parents and guardians, is essential to achieving this mission. After listening to feedback from several parents, we recognize the need to enhance communication and ensure you are fully informed about your child’s high school experience.
Here’s how we plan to keep you informed and involved:
- Weekly Updates: Stay in the loop with our parent newsletter, the Randle Recorder, as well as Skylert phone calls, text messages, and social media posts (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) detailing school happenings and upcoming events.
- Academic Communication: Each week, we will send an outline of daily academic topics and assignments via Skyward email from teachers.
- Progress Reports: You will receive a weekly electronic progress report from each of your child’s teachers, keeping you updated on their academic performance.
- Responsive Support: We commit to responding to parent phone calls and emails within 48 hours.
- Celebrating Success: We will recognize and celebrate all student achievements and milestones.
- Collaborative Solutions: For any challenges your child might face, we will work together to find solutions and support their success.
- Proactive Addressing of Concerns: We take responsibility for any concerns that arise and will address them promptly to reach effective resolutions.
Finally, we invite you to partner with us in developing student success plans. Together, we can exemplify P.R.I.D.E. and achieve extraordinary results for our Lion community.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment. Here’s to a fantastic school year filled with growth, achievement, and pride!
Sincerely,
John Montelongo

🚍 DOES YOUR STUDENT RIDE A BUS? 🚍
📌THIS IS NEW! All parents/guardians are REQUIRED to complete a Transportation Form, for all current and new students! This includes bus riders, car riders, bike riders, and/or walkers!
This change requires all parents/guardians to complete a Transportation Form. We are requesting this form to be filled out for all current and new students including bus riders, car riders, bike riders, and/or walkers.
Students who ride the bus must complete this Transportation Form to receive bus services at the start of the school year.
The new transportation software will provide a smoother experience for our drivers and increase our students' safety. Additionally, My Stop will provide a parent portal, student rider onboarding, and student rider location.
To plan accordingly for your student, please review a list of important dates below:
- Sunday, August 4 DEADLINE: The deadline has passed to submit Transportation Form for students who want to receive bus transportation on the first day of school (Monday, August 12).
- Monday, August 5 – Wednesday, August 21: During this time, if families fill out the Transportation Form requesting bus transportation for a student, the student will start receiving bus transportation on Monday, August 26.
- Thursday, August 22 and beyond: During this time, if families fill out the Transportation Form requesting bus transportation for a student, the student will start receiving bus transportation five school days after the form is submitted.

Course Requests and Schedule Changes
We realize that some Lions may need a level change in a course with a level down equivalent.
Please see below for LCISD guidelines regarding level changes.
Course Level Changes: To be considered for a level change from a PAP, AP, Dual Credit or OnRamps course, the student must have made a sincere effort to succeed by attending tutorials, completing his/her work, completed available reassessment, conferenced with his/her teacher, and recognized that Dual/AP courses have a 1.3 multiplier, PAP courses have a 1.2 multiplier, and academic courses have a 1.1 multiplier.
A parent conference with the teacher is recommended before a level change.
Course level changes will be considered at the end of the 3rd week (PR1), at the end of the 1st six weeks (SW1), and at the end of the 1st semester with a completed campus drop form. Level changes for semester-only courses will be considered at the end of the 3rd week (PR1 or PR4) and at the end of the 1st six weeks (SW1 or SW4).
If students need a level change they should request a level change form from their teacher. All level request are due to counselor's office by Friday, August 30th at 4:00 pm. Students can contact the counselors if they have questions.

Parents Standards of Conduct
Lamar CISD welcomes parents and guardians to be engaged and involved in student academics and activities. Mutually respectful behavior at school campuses and in interactions with campus staff is essential for fostering a positive and productive school environment. Establishing clear parent/guardian standards of conduct sets expectations and creates a respectful and supportive atmosphere for everyone involved.
- Safety and Security: Parents/guardians must comply with safety and security protocols on campus, including sign-in procedures and visitor badges.
- Adherence to School Policies: Parents/guardians must familiarize themselves with school policies and follow them, including rules related to student drop-off and pick-up, dress code, and behavior expectations.
- Respectful Communication: Parents/guardians must communicate with school staff in a respectful and courteous manner. This includes using appropriate language, listening to staff members’ perspectives, and refraining from disrespectful or aggressive behavior.
- Appropriate Use of Technology: Parents/guardians are expected to use technology, such as email or messaging apps, responsibly when communicating with school staff.
- Appropriate Time and Place: Parents/guardians are expected to understand the appropriate times and locations for discussions with teachers or school staff. There may be designated parent-teacher conferences or specific office hours when staff can address concerns.
- Privacy and Confidentiality: Parents/guardians must respect the privacy and confidentiality of other students and families. Discussions about individual students must be conducted privately and not shared with others.
- Conflict Resolution: Parents/guardians are expected to engage in constructive conflict resolution if they have concerns or disagreements with school staff. This includes seeking appropriate channels for dispute resolution and avoiding confrontations on campus.
- Feedback and Suggestions: Parents/guardians should feel welcome to provide feedback and suggestions to the school administration but should do so in a constructive and respectful manner.
Prohibited Behaviors
In order to provide a peaceful and safe school environment, Lamar CISD prohibits the following behaviors by parents/guardians and visitors:
- Abusive, threatening, profane or harassing communication, either in person, by e-mail or text/voicemail/phone or other written or verbal communication
- Disruptive behavior that interferes or threatens to interfere with campus operations, including the effective operation of a classroom, an employee’s office or duty station, a campus lobby, or school grounds, including sporting events, parking lots and car-pickup
- Threatening to do bodily harm to a District employee, visitor, fellow parent/guardian or student
- Threatening to damage the property of a District employee, visitor, fellow parent/guardian or student
- Damaging or destruction of school property
Consequences
Depending upon the severity of the incident, parents/guardians or visitors may be removed from or otherwise banned from campus and participation in school-sponsored events under the criminal trespass laws.
In situations involving lesser infractions or where remediation is viable, a warning will be provided in writing prior to the filing of trespass and issuance of a formal ban. Should a parent/guardian or visitor fail to heed the direction issued in the warning, a ban or other restrictions designed to deter the conduct will follow.
No restriction, however, will prevent the parent/guardian from working collaboratively with the campus or district to meet the child’s educational needs, nor will a parent/guardian be excluded from a child’s IEP meeting.
Specific procedures for campus warning and ban decisions can be found in policy GKA (LEGAL) and GKA (LOCAL), as well as the Lamar CISD Student Handbook.
