Principal's Message
Good afternoon Canby High School Students & Families,
We have lots to celebrate this week. Our FFA students are hosting a plant sale. Check out the pictures of the beautiful plants. More information can be found in the flier below.
Our choir hosted amazing alumni concerts and will compete in the state competition tomorrow (Friday, 5/3) on the OSU campus. Band’s state appearance is next Friday, 5/10. Saxophonist Brayden Boley competed at the State Solo Music Championships, which took place at Portland State University on April 27. Brayden took 5th place out of 18 high saxophone soloists (1A-6A) with a score of 871!
Our leadership students recently awarded gold-level status at the OASC (Oregon Association of Student Councils) conference in Seaside on Apr 28-29. At the conference, CHS students hosted a student-lead breakout session, shared ideas about how we connect with our community, and connected with other schools. On the field, the CHS lacrosse team beat West Linn for the first time in school history on Tuesday, 4/30, and all our spring sports teams continue to excel.
Please remember that CHS is closed to driving off campus during lunch. With road construction happening in the area, we want to ensure our students are as safe as possible. We ask that all students refrain from entering any work zones as they pose a significant safety concern due to heavy equipment and drop-offs anywhere from inches to feet deep. Thank you for your cooperation and patience during this time and for partnering with us to keep our students safe.
Next week brings no school on Monday, May 6, for professional development and grading. We are excited to welcome students and families for in person conferences on Wednesday, May 8. Mark your calendars; there is more information below.
Finally, next week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and I wish to express deep gratitude to our amazing staff here at CHS. They continuously go above and beyond to serve our students.
Have a Wonderful Week!
Best,
Cari Sloan
