MARCH 5TH REMINDER - NO SCHOOL

We will not have school for students on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. This is due to the primary elections taking place that day.

TNS VEX ROBOTICS UPDATE

Congratulations to our VEX Robotics teams for their outstanding performances this season! Four of our teams have earned an invitation to compete at the State Championship!

Congratulations go to: Charles Alex, Caelyn Cunningham, Grayson Davies, Zoya Ghani, Luke Jahanian, Thomas Keapproth, Cullen McKinley, Luke Memmott, Ethan Meyer, Stefan Organ, Logan Pennington, Grady Perdue, Eli Reeder, Tristan Rhondenhizer, and Hays Wischkaemper.

ELEMENTARY ALL-COUNTY CHORUS

Congratulations and thank you to our elementary students, Leila Pesature, Charley Norris, and Lexi ScharBrough, who represented TNS at the PWCS All-County Chorus this weekend held at Unity Reed High School! They joined students from all the elementary schools in the division in this celebration of singing! Thank you Ms. Craddock for your work with these students!

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER & TEACHER ASSISTANT INFO SESSION

PWCS Human Resources will be hosting a virtual session on Wednesday, March 6 to learn more about the application and hiring process to become a substitute teacher or teacher assistant with Prince William County Public Schools.

FIFTH GRADE - MIDDLE SCHOOLER FOR THE DAY

Starting the week of March 4, 2024, our fifth graders will participate in a special transition program called, "Middle Schooler for the Day." Each fifth grade homeroom is assigned a specific day, connected with a sixth grade 'mentor' student, and shadow them through the day from 2nd-6th period. Please see the schedule below for each class. If you have any questions, please reach out to Counseling Director, Mrs. Breski, 5th Grade Counselor, Ms. White, or your child's homeroom teacher.

MIDDLE LEVEL ACTIVITY PERIOD REWARD

As part of one of our new teacher-led committees, the middle level, grades 6-8, are going to add an occasional Activity Period as a motivational reward for things like doing work, and staying focused in school. The Activity Period will take place at the end of the school day and consist of several stations, where students can participate in the activities of their choosing. We currently have a few of these slated throughout the remainder of the school year, but are in need of assistance with our gaming stations! Since gaming stations are ALWAYS a hit with the kids, we would like to be able to setup a few classrooms with Nintendo Switch consoles.

ATTENDANCE UPDATE

Great news! Our percentage of students that are Chronically Absent (10%+) is down to 12.29% as of 2/28/24!! Great job!

BDHS CHEER PROGRAM

BDHS Cheer is ending their 2023-24 season, but are preparing to start up for 2024-25. Current seventh graders and current eighth graders can tryout for cheer for next year. Their tryout meeting is required for both parents and potential cheerleaders and is April 2 at 5:30 pm in the BDHS auditorium. Tryouts will then be held April 17-20.
