Welcome Back!
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome back to a new and exciting school year! We are thrilled to have all of our students returning, and we extend a warm welcome to our new families joining us this year. Our school community is a vibrant and dynamic place where every student is encouraged to SOAR to their highest potential. As we embark on this new academic journey, we are committed to providing a nurturing and enriching environment for all our students.
At Fisher, we are guided by our mantra, SOAR: Safety, Ownership, Achievement, and Respect. These core values are the foundation of everything we do. We prioritize the safety of our students, ensuring a secure and supportive learning environment. We encourage students to take ownership of their learning and actions, fostering a sense of responsibility and self-discipline. We celebrate achievements, big and small, recognizing that every step forward is a victory. We emphasize respect, creating a culture of kindness, empathy, and mutual respect among students, staff, and our community.
We are excited to kick off the school year with our Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 18th, at 6:30 p.m. This event is a wonderful opportunity for parents and guardians to meet teachers, learn about the curriculum, and discover how we can work together to support your child's success. We look forward to seeing you there and to a fantastic school year ahead!
Sincerely,
Dr. Maggy Hanna
FMS Principal

Cell Phones
As we continue our commitment to providing the best learning environment for our students, we are reinforcing our policy that cell phones should be put away during the entire school day.
This policy is designed to minimize distractions and ensure that students remain focused on their education. We kindly ask for your support in reminding your child to keep their phone stored in their locker or backpack throughout the school day.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated as we work together to create a positive and productive learning experience for all our students.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Chromebooks
On the first day of the school year, Chromebooks, along with chargers, will be allocated to students. To ensure a seamless process, we kindly request all parents to complete the Student Device User Agreement before the commencement of the school term, utilizing the Genesis Parent Portal. Upon successful completion and signing of the agreement, your child will be eligible to receive a Chromebook.
The Chromebooks are intended to be taken home by students on a daily basis, facilitating a versatile learning experience. We kindly remind students to ensure that their Chromebooks are fully charged each day before bringing them to school. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Emergency Drills
During the academic year, we will conduct multiple emergency drills, including fire drills, evacuation drills, shelter-in-place drills, and lock-down drills. Our priority is to ensure the safety of all students and staff members.
We understand that your child may discuss these drills at home, and we kindly remind you that they are indeed simulated exercises. In the event of an actual emergency, rest assured that parents will be promptly informed through appropriate channels.
Should you have any inquiries or concerns about our emergency procedures, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school. Your input and involvement are crucial in maintaining a secure learning environment.
Genesis Student Access/Emails
All students have access to Genesis with their own student accounts, granting them direct access and full ownership over their learning experience.
Moreover, their Google User ID's will double as email addresses, exclusively for communication within the Ewing organization, enabling seamless interaction with their teachers.
Outlined below are the instructions to access their student accounts. These guidelines will be provided to them during the initial school week and discussed during homeroom.
Weapons Detection System
As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all students, staff, and visitors, we are installing a new weapons detection system at our middle school. This system is designed to prevent any dangerous items from entering our school building, helping us create a safer environment for everyone. Starting at the beginning of the school year, all students and visitors will be required to go through this detection system upon entering the school. While we recognize that this is a significant change, we believe it is a necessary step to protect our school community.
The system will be operational at two main entry points: Door 1 and Door 20, and no student or visitor should enter from any other door. We will begin allowing students into the building starting at 8:05 AM.
The detection system is designed to identify various metals, including those found in metal water bottles, cell phones, Chromebooks, pocket knives, and vape devices. To streamline the entry process and minimize disruptions, we will ask all students and visitors to place their cell phones, water bottles, and Chromebooks in designated bins prior to walking through the detection system.
In the initial days of implementing this system, we anticipate that there will be delays as we work through the process and everyone becomes familiar with the new procedures. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding during this period. Our staff will be on hand to assist students and visitors to ensure a smooth transition. We are confident that with your support, this new measure will enhance the safety of our school.
