Principally Speaking
Welcome back to a new and exciting school year at Evergreen Elementary! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer filled with relaxation and fun. We had a wonderful first day of school yesterday thanks to all the great work done by our outstanding staff. A big thank you as well to our PTO for all their contributions getting our school year off to a fabulous start. Their Playground Meetups and Scavenger Hunt during open house were enjoyed by all.
We are eager to embark on another journey of learning, growth, and discovery together this year. As always, we are committed to nurturing each child's potential and fostering a warm, inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and supported. Let's make this year one of our best yet—full of curiosity, kindness, and achievement! Welcome back, Evergreen Eagles!
Math and Science
Dear Students and Families,
Welcome to another exciting month at Evergreen! As we dive into our learning adventures, we want to highlight the magic and importance of Math and Science in our school. These subjects are not just about numbers and experiments – they’re about exploring the world and discovering new things!
Why Math is So Cool
Math helps us understand patterns, solve puzzles, and even play games! Whether we’re adding, subtracting, or learning about shapes, math is everywhere. It helps us in our daily lives, like when we’re baking cookies (measuring ingredients) or figuring out how much time we have left to play before dinner.
The Excitement of Science
Science is like a treasure hunt for answers! From mixing colors to growing plant, science is all about exploring and experimenting. It teaches us how things work and encourages us to ask question and discover new things. Every science project and experiment is a chance to be a young scientist!
Fun Learning Ahead
At our school, we love making Math and Science fun and exciting! Our teachers create awesome lessons and hands-on activities that make learning these subjects a blast. We have cool projects, fun experiments, and engaging games that help us see how amazing Math and Science can be.
Join the Adventure
We encourage everyone to be curious and ask questions. Explore math and science at home – try out simple experiments, solve puzzles together, or even build something with your family. Every little bit of curiosity helps us learn and grow!
Let’s continue to explore, discover, and have fun with Math and Science. Together, we can unlock the wonders of the world around us!
Happy Learning!

Bike Path Volunteer Event
The Evergreen Elementary School Bike Park and multi- use trails are progressing! We are hosting a "Volunteer Day" on Sunday, September 15 with two shifts available (8:00-12:00 and 1:00-5:00). The meeting location for each of these sessions is on the west side of the school parking lot. This is a general labor volunteer opportunity for finishing the surface soil on the trail for the next segment of trail behind the school. Please your favorite pair of work gloves, metal rake, flat shovel and hydration bottle if you are interested in assisting with this project. Please label all your items so they do not get mixed up or lost. If you would like to help, please sign up on this Google Doc. In the event of rain or poor weather the volunteer day would be postponed.
The site contains a significant amount of poison ivy so pants and gloves are recommended if you wonder off the trails into the wooded areas.
Light snacks and refreshments will be available to volunteers on this day.
Project questions can be directed to project contacts are Dan Borchardt 715-216-3601 and Rick Jarek 715-527-8217.
Jake the Therapy Dog!
We are pleased to announce that Mr. Koepke's Goldendoodle, Jake, will continue to serve Evergreen Elementary as a Therapy Dog during the 24-25 school year. Jake will join us at school a few times each month. During visits Jake remains on a leash with Mr. Koepke and visits with students and classrooms at teacher request.
Sometimes they make a whole-class visit and other times may meet with an individual student or with a small group of kids. Children love to read books to Jake, give him ‘pets’, or just hang out.. Jake is especially helpful when a student is feeling sad or upset. His calm demeanor and soft fur are often the perfect cure for the childhood blues.
Students or staff that have undocumented health-related or other concerns about being around Jake should contact our school's secretary at krmarquardt@dce.k12.wi.us
Jake can’t wait to see all his friends again this fall!
