GRE PTA NEWS

Our last week of school is here. It is bittersweet as we say goodbye to Garden Ridge Elementary after 32 years but look forward to the new adventures ahead. We are deeply grateful for our gator community and all the support you have given us, from donations to volunteering to celebrating at after school events to attending meetings. We will truly miss this community. We wish you all the best of luck in your next phase of school and hope to see familiar faces. We encourage you to stay involved and support your new school where ever that may be.

We have our EOY Bash this Thursday, there are still spots open to volunteer. A gift from PTA courtesy of our very own Kate Gribbon and lastly 5th grade memory day is Friday May 23rd.

We’re closing out the school year with a brand-new event we hope will be fun, active, and truly unforgettable for our students!

Mark your calendars! The End of Year Bash will take place onThursday, May 22nd, and will be split into two sessions:

• Grades 3–5: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
• Grades K–2: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM

During this time, students will enjoy waterslides, yard games, music, and a sweet treat from Bahama Buck’s, courtesy of our amazing Student Council.

We’d love your help making this event a success! Please consider signing up for the time slot that works best for you. If you’re available for the full two hours, feel free to sign up for both time slots.

Important: We encourage parents to send students dressed for water fun, school-appropriate swimsuits, clothes that can get wet, water shoes, towels, and a change of clothes. Students will change back into dry clothes once the event ends.

We are so grateful for our own GRE parent, Kate Gribbon, who came and took grade level pictures as a keepsake for our families. We hope you enjoy these smiles and silly faces of your kids and their classmates for years to come.

The FMHS Tech Club is hosting summer camps again, Tuesday June 17 - Friday June 20. Our summer camps are amazing STEM learning opportunities taught by FMHS Tech Club students who have been hosting these camps for more than 10 years. This year they have competed at Regionals, State, World and Global Competitions!

We would love your support in advertising these camps to your students whichever way you get the word out - newsletters, websites, announcements etc. If you would like paper flyers, please let us know how many.

This year, we are offering four camps in total- for your current 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students.

• Intro to LEGO SPIKE Prime
• Advanced LEGO using Python
• Intro to FTC Robotics
• Advanced FTC Robotics

We were recognized twice last week for the Texas PTA Platinum Voice for Every Child Award, the highest honor a local PTA can earn. Once at the LISD Board Meeting and once at the LISD Council of PTA's meeting. We are so proud of all our hard work this year and want to thank each and every one of our members for the support as we close the chapter on GRE and continue our legacy elsewhere.

A huge thank you to our work day volunteers that were able to come Saturday and help our teachers pack up their classrooms. Thank you for supporting them.
