AVA Family Update
March 1, 2024
Good morning AVA Students and Families,
I have next week's schedule, the guidance and community updates, and important dates below as usual. Please note that Friday is a half-day for students.
Friday marks the end of Trimester 2. Students in single trimester courses should work to ensure they are in good shape for all of these classes, as they won't be able to work on them in Trimester 3, and many will have new classes to take their place. Students should check Aspen at the end of next week to ensure they understand any new classes or teachers they may have.
We also have MCAS coming up for 10th graders. Math is at the end of this month and ELA is in April. I will be reaching out to all students who will be required to report to the high school to take the tests.
Lastly, I have been reaching out to all seniors to ensure we have a clear understanding of what is required to graduate and that we are on the same page about ceremonies and other events. If you haven't heard from me yet, you will by the end of the day.
Thank you for your time.

Last Notice: Mental Health Resources
William James Interface
Any resident of Attleboro or student attending the Attleboro Public Schools (through a guardian) can access the William James College INTERFACE Referral Service. The INTERFACE Helpline helps individuals in subscribing communities become connected with outpatient mental health and wellness resources.
Through the Helpline that operates from 9 AM- 5 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 8 AM- 6 PM on Tuesday and Thursday, callers will complete an intake which takes about 15-20 minutes and then within a day or so of their call will be assigned to work with a Resource and Referral Counselor who will help them navigate the challenges of finding mental health services, including obtaining a referral match to an outpatient provider, as well as information and resources related to mental health and wellness. Please see What to Expect When You Call the Helpline or visit interface.williamjames.edu for more information.
The INTERFACE Helpline is not an emergency service. If you or the person you are seeking to assist requires a crisis response to meet immediate safety needs, please call 988, 911, go to your local emergency room, or find your local crisis services by calling 833-773-2445 and asking for crisis support.
Guidance Updates
Junior Interviews
Starting next week, AVA Guidance will start meeting with AVA juniors during Advisory class to begin the first viable steps towards the post-graduation planning process. In order to prepare, it is strongly suggested to please read and complete the junior questionnaire (open and make a copy) as well as check HERE for the junior-senior timeline and its list of useful activities students and families can do now. For Hockey program students, please be on the lookout next week and after for a community email from Ms. Nellie about setting up virtual appointments.
Junior Planning Night
Kind reminder: The AHS Guidace Dept. will be hosting its annual Junior Planning Night next week on Wednesday, March 6th at 6pm in the Bray auditorium on our AHS campus. This is an opportunity for students and their families to learn more about the upcoming college and career process. There is something for everyone in this presentation, whether you are going into college, a career, or the military. All AVA juniors and families are highly encouraged to attend!
