Great Relationships Produce Great Students
Hello CBE Families!
It’s hard to believe Quarter 1 has ended and Thanksgiving is right around the corner! We’ve had a busy and productive start to the school year, and we appreciate your continued support. As we move through the school year, please be aware that teachers may be sending out bi-weekly emails to families of students who are struggling in certain subjects. These emails are intended to keep parents informed so we can work together to help students succeed. If you receive one of these notifications, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the teacher for specific guidance and resources that may be helpful.
We’re thrilled to announce some exciting upcoming events, including seasonal concerts and activities where students can showcase their talents. Be on the lookout for more details in the coming weeks. We encourage all families to attend and cheer on our students as they perform and participate!
As a reminder, there is no school Monday, November 11th (Veterans Day) and Wednesday-Friday, November 27th – 29th for Thanksgiving. These breaks offer time for students to recharge and spend time with family and friends.
Finally, a huge thank you to all who participated in and supported the Friends of Eielson fundraiser! Your involvement helps provide valuable resources and opportunities for our students. We truly appreciate your generosity and commitment to our school community. CBE wishes everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving.

No School - November 11th
There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, November 11 due to the Veterans Day Holiday. Classes will resume as normally scheduled on Tuesday, November 12.
The Great North Pole
The Great North Pole, a local nonprofit, is providing helpful holiday boxes to a limited number of Carl Ben Eielson families in need. The helpful holiday boxes include household items and items to meet basic needs. If your family is interested, please stop in to the CBE Counseling office to pick up a form and answer all of the questions. All completed forms need to be returned to the Counseling Office by Thursday, November 14, 2024.
Important Notes:
- Unfortunately, not every family will receive these boxes
- Every box has different items in it, and families do not receive the same items.
- If winter coats, hats, mittens, and gloves are available, the kids will be selected first to receive them.
- If your family is selected, The Great North Pole will email or call you in December regarding the distribution date and time you select on the form.
It is very important that forms are filled out right away, as supplies are limited. Forms are processed in the order they are received. When supplies are gone, additional families won't be able to be assisted. The earlier forms are completed, the more likely to be considered for holiday boxes.

CBE Musical
Journey "under the sea" with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney's The Little Mermaid JR., adapted from Disney's Broadway production and the motion picture (featuring the enormously popular Academy Award-winning music and delightfully charming book and lyrics). Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories, Disney's The Little Mermaid JR. is an enchanting look at the sacrifices we all make for love and acceptance.
In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home — and her fins — behind and live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father, King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she's the girl whose enchanting voice he's been seeking.
Written to flow seamlessly between land and sea, Disney's The Little Mermaid JR. provides plenty of opportunities to bring these locations to life through creative movement and configurations. The fantasy of being underwater means your entire cast and crew can let their imaginations run wild.
Auditions are November 20th from 3:45 – 5:30 PM with three shows. The show days are February 13th and 14th at 7:00 PM and February 15th at 2:00 PM.

Bus Information
BUS INFORMATION
Here Comes the Bus
Dear Parents of Middle and High School Students,
Beginning Friday, August 30, Fargo Public Schools will require middle school and high school students to scan their ID when they get on and off school buses. During the first days of school, school administration will teach students this process.
The decision to have middle school and high school students scan on and off the bus has been made for the following reasons.
● Enhanced Safety and Security: Scanning IDs provides real-time data on which students are on the bus and when they board or leave. This information can be crucial in emergencies, ensuring that all students are accounted for and quickly locating any missing students.
● Parental Peace of Mind: Parents can use the “Here Comes the Bus” app on their phone to receive notifications of when and where their child has boarded or exited the bus, offering reassurance about their child's safety.
● Efficient Bus Management: Schools and bus operators can track bus routes more accurately, monitor the number of students on each bus, and adjust if needed. This data can also help in optimizing routes and schedules.
“Here Comes the Bus” is the application used for bus scanning. When school photos are taken, each student will receive an ID card with a barcode that is to be used to scan on and off the bus. Since the timeline for pictures is different in each middle and high school, attached to this email is a temporary Bus ID for your student.
If your student has a cell phone, they can simply take a photo of the Bus ID and use the photo to scan on and off the bus. If your student does not have a cell phone, please print the Bus ID and have your student keep it in a place where they will have access when they enter and exit the bus.
Your student will scan each time they enter the bus. When the students arrive at the school, they will not scan off the bus, and the bus driver will complete a walk-thru of the bus to make sure all students are off the bus (this saves valuable time each morning). At the end of the day returning home, your student needs to scan on and off the bus.
Please encourage your child to participate in the scanning process onto the bus in the morning and scanning both on and off the bus after school. Bus routes run on a timed schedule, and students without barcode IDs may cause delays.
Instructions for downloading and setting up the phone app “Here Comes the Bus” can be found by clicking on this link. Once downloaded, parents can adjust app settings to receive alerts for when students scan on and off the bus.
Please call your student’s school office if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Robert Grosz, Associate Superintendent for Secondary Schools
