Board of Education Reorganization
The Woodland Park Board of Education held its annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 2. Mayor Tracy Kallert swore in the three incoming trustees to their terms. Andrew Mingione was sworn in to his first term. Shannon Marren was sworn in to her second term. Dr. Mark Salemi was sworn in for his fifth overall term. The Board then selected trustee Glen Grimes to Board President for 2025 and Shannon Marren for Vice President for 2025.
Book Reports
Before the break, Ms. Handel's third grade class at Beatrice Gilmore School shared their non-fiction books with their classmates. Students researched a non-fiction topic and created a book including all non-fiction text features.
Working Together
Students in Ms. Samra’s LLD class at Beatrice Gilmore School have been working hard on their math curriculum and in their reading groups. Students enjoy working with their peers while helping one another.
Recycled Art
Mrs. Tobia and Ms. A's PreK-4 class at School 1 made art out of recycled materials. They were inspired by the book Don't Lose It, Reuse It. In this story, the children take everyday things we would have thrown away and think, "How can I reuse it?"
Guest Readers
Mrs. DiBona's third grade class at Beatrice Gilmore School was so excited to welcome more mystery readers before winter break. The student all really enjoyed listening to the read-alouds and taking part in the fun activities when Zoe’s mom, Jace’s mom, and Kayla’s mom visited their class over the past few weeks.
Holiday Craft
Mrs. Morozowski's kindergarten class at Charles Olbon School really enjoyed taking part in the holiday craft provided to them from the Home & School Association. They class created snowy winter owls.
Sharing Ideas
Preschool teachers recently gather to work on Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS) scores during Professional Learning Community (PLC) time. The teachers shared math concept ideas and examples from their classrooms. Coaches work closely with teachers to guide them in a math-rich classroom environment.
One Word Resolutions
Students in Mrs. Wilson’s fourth grade class at Beatrice Gilmore School started the new year off by creating one word resolutions. Students brainstormed words together, learned about the importance of following through with goals by making them attainable, visible, and how to work hard to make them achievable.
Students chose words such as faith, success, perseverance, adventure, focus, creativity, and more! Students ended the week by making one word resolution bracelets as a visible reminder of their commitment to themselves. Starting off 2025 with a purpose, and lots of fun too!
