Greenbriar Gazette 10/25/24

Volume 34 Issue 10 | October 25, 2024
Principal's Message
Dear Greenbriar Families,
We were right back into the swing of things this week after our long weekend. Our kindergarteners enjoyed an in-school "field trip" with the Frog Lady who came to share her reptiles and amphibians with our students. Kids were excited to learn about a variety of frogs, toads, lizards and tortoises!
Next week will be busy as well with Halloween on Thursday. Please take a moment to fill out this survey letting us know your child's plans for lunch on Halloween. This will help us ensure a smooth and safe transition on this busy day. I have included more details below about our plans for the Halloween parade and classroom parties. We look forward to seeing many of you for our fun Halloween parade tradition.
Reports from the IAR and ISA state-required tests were sent home via email to current 4th and 5th graders (as well as current 6th graders) on Wednesday. Parents of students in 2nd-5th grades will receive NWEA MAP reports today. Please reach out with any questions.
We're excited for our Greyhound Gathering Fall Fest tonight and hope many of you can stop by. Huge thanks to our PTO chairs Lizzie Zivin and Amanda Mishevich for all of their work planning this new event. Our next community event will be our Cultural Fair Community Dinner. Join us Tuesday, November 12th, from 6:00 - 7:30pm in the Greenbriar big gym as we celebrate our diverse community! This year's Cultural Fair will be a community dinner where families are encouraged to bring a dish to share that represents their culture or traditions. For more information and to sign up click here.
Enjoy the weekend!

News & Notes
Halloween Reminders
We're excited to celebrate Halloween next week on Thursday, 10/31. As a reminder, here are the details about celebrating at school:
- Our parade will begin at approximately 2pm. The parade route will begin outside of the dismissal doors off Greenbriar Lane and will proceed down Chestnut, left on Briarwood, left on Catherine and back around the primary playground before entering in the back entrance of Greenbriar. Guests are welcome to join us at any point along the route. If the weather doesn't cooperate, we will parade inside and guests will be invited to line the gym. More details will be sent in case of inclement weather.
- Classroom parties will begin after the parade and will end at 3:15. Only parents who are volunteering for the parties will be invited into the building following the parade.
- Please send your child with their costume to change into at lunchtime. They should be able to manage their costume independently.
- If your child is going home for lunch, please make sure you have filled out the lunch survey listed above to allow them to be dismissed without needing them to be signed out.
- Please do not send students with replica weapons or overly scary/gory costumes.
- Remember, Friday, 11/1 will be an all-school pajama day!
