Principal Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
My first Halloween week as Principal of Wildwood School sure delivered on excitement and costumes. With a busy week of classes leading towards the big event on Thursday students were full of energy.
Thursday our students were greeted with a foggy spooky morning as the vampires, princesses superheroes and Care Bears showed up. The day was full of crafts, fun, games, a costume parade, and yes even some learning!
Friday morning we had our first pancake breakfast of the year, organized by our School Advisory Council. Thank you to those parents that braved the early morning to cook breakfast for so many grateful kids. It was also our pajama day, so many children tired from the night before were already dressed for a restful day.
Next week is a short 3 day week with our Remembrance Day Ceremony on Wednesday at 10:30. Parents are encouraged to attend, and we ask you to arrive by 10:20. All students have been preparing fitting songs or presentations for this ceremony.
Please note that there is no Basketball on November 4th, it will resume on November 18th.
November 7th through the 11th is Fall Break, with classes resuming on the 12th. The 12th is also our next School Council Meeting at 3:45.
Please see the message below for important information regarding the search for our next Superintendent.
If you have any questions or concerns you can always reach out to the school through the office or email me at alanstoy@gypsd.ca.
Sincerely,
Alan Stoyles
Principal
New Superintendent Search - Board Invitation to School Council Members/Parent Advisory Committees:
The Board of Trustees for GYPSD is conducting a search for a new superintendent. They have secured an external consultant, Mr. Brian Callaghan, through the Public School Boards' Association of Alberta.
On November 13th, at 7 pm, Mr. Callaghan will meet with the Division's School Council/Parent Advisory Committee stakeholder groups to gather input on a preferred candidate profile. Once the candidate profile is established, it will be used to guide the recruitment and hiring process for the future superintendent.
The Board will be using GYPSD's ZOOM Platform to ensure all of the Division's School Council/parent groups can participate in this meeting.
In consultation with School Council we have tentatively booked a group participation at Wildwood School in room 130. We will gauge interest and move forward accordingly.
