Your child may qualify for lunch assistance! Please apply today.
Families are encouraged to complete the Application for Free and Reduced-Price School Meals at www.schoolcafe.com. If you need a paper form, we have them in our front office. Ms. Rivera can help! We want to do all we can to assist you and help where we can, and a lunch that is free or reduced may help with your monthly bills!
The application will determine a child’s eligibility for free and reduced-price meals and may assist in the determination of eligibility for other state or federal benefits. Only one application needs to be completed per household. The Child Nutrition department will notify the household of the child’s eligibility. The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) administers school nutrition programs in Texas and offers an eligibility calculator at www.SquareMeals.org/ProgramEligibility.
Decisions regarding payment for school meals are made at the national government level, not by our school child nutrition team. Our dedicated child nutrition staff is looking forward to serving healthy, balanced meals to students in the new school year. These meals, whether paid, free, or reduced price, offer a good source of nutrition for children.
For more information, visit our child nutrition website at https://www.dentonisd.org/childnutrition
Program information may be made available in languages other than English. We do not allow food delivery companies to drop off food. Students are not allowed to receive deliveries at school. This includes (and is not limited to) Uber Eats, Door Dash, flowers, cookies, balloons, etc. Please save the items for the home.
Chromebooks- Parents need to buy the insurance and students need to charge each night
With the first day of school just around the corner, we wanted to take a moment to remind you that your 7th and 8th grade students will need to bring their fully charged DISD issued Chromebook back with them on the first day of school. 6th grade students will not be issued take home Chromebooks. For sixth graders, Chromebooks will stay on campus.
The Chromebooks are a vital piece of the learning environment in the classroom. By having them ready on the first day of school, this will help ensure a smooth transition to start the academic year.
Additional information regarding Chromebooks including Chromebook care and Chromebook insurance can be found here:
https://sites.google.com/g.dentonisd.org/digital-resource-student-famil/11-in-disd
Families are provided the opportunity to pay for Chromebook insurance during the registration process. The insurance will help offset any Chromebook repairs that may occur during the school year.
https://www.dentonisd.org/Page/102986
Each child will be provided a Chromebook. They will be responsible for bringing the laptop back to school each day, fully charged.
Student Cell Phones Not To Be Used In the Classrooms, Halls, and Lunch
Students do not need to access their phones for school purposes. We want our students to focus on their learning and not social media.
Phones need to be turned off and put a way during the school day. For students who repeatedly have their phone out during the school day, their phones will be brought to the office. According to Denton ISD policy, parents can pick up their student's cell phone by paying 15 dollars.
An easy way to avoid the fee? Make sure your child knows you expect them to follow the policy.
