Dear Los Pen Families,

Happy New Year and welcome back to school. What better way to end our first week back than with a Friday Flag ceremony this morning and honoring both Character Counts winners and our December Valedictorians! We are so proud of the hard work, outstanding character, and determination from our students.

In other exciting news, we are so grateful to the amazingly talented Mr. Chris from ESS for beautifying our student bathrooms with inspirational quotes (see the sample photo). We would also like to thank our PTA for funding this project, and Ms. Bohn, our school counselor, for her organizational efforts. What a team!

Our district has already begun planning for the 2025-2026 school year! In an effort to help us provide the most accurate information about the number of students who will be returning next year, please complete THE SURVEY LINKED HERE no later than Sunday, January 26, 2025. This will provide us with the number of returning students as well as those who will be leaving Los Peñasquitos Elementary and will ensure that your child(ren) is enrolled correctly for the 2025-2026 school year. Please submit one form per student.

Families do not need to complete the form for current 5th-grade students because they will be automatically enrolled in 6th-grade at their school of residence. This is NOT considered continuing student registration. Continuing student registration will take place February 28th - March 31st and needs to be completed for ALL students enrolled in PUSD for the 2024-2025 school year. As students engage in digital spaces—whether playing multiplayer games, using educational apps, or exploring new interests online—it’s crucial they understand the importance of keeping their personal information safe. With guidance on avoiding scams and protecting their digital footprints, students can enjoy learning and fun online while staying in control of their privacy. We are excited to announce that Los Pen will be hosting its very first Science Fair this Spring! Projects may be submitted by students in grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th. All students are welcome to attend the Science Fair in the MPR to view the projects. More details will be coming.

Project proposals will open after Winter Break and will be due in February, so start thinking about your science project ideas now!
