BES Principal Newsletter
January 10th, 2025
Good evening BES families,
I hope the break was relaxing and time well spent with family and friends. We are so excited to see our Eagles back in action and to begin looking at new data to see how everyone progressed this first semester. Next week, we will be retesting all students with our Acadience screener in math and reading. This data allows helps to determine if students need title help, no additional help or more title time for reading and/or math. Results of that testing, should title be a new consideration, will be shared with those families along with a permission slip to begin title. If data shows that students no longer need title, an exit slip will also be sent home with parents. if you have any questions please reach out to Mrs. Staton (math) and Mrs. Phillips (reading) at 810.266.4671.
Please send your student to school with the appropriate winter gear every day. This includes a winter coat with a working zipper, snow pants, boots, hats and gloves. If impending weather is possible, school staff will remind students to take these belongings home should a snow day be called. If your student borrowed something from our clothes closet and they no longer need it, please send the item back to the office. If your student needs the item, please feel free to keep it!
As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. Our staff is grateful for our students, families and Byron community!!
Educationally Yours,
Mrs. Johnson
✨SNOW MUCH FUN! ⛄
BAS Introduces New Safety Protocol for Staff and Students
Dear Parent/Guardian,
We are planning a parent night to answer any questions you may have about our adoption of our new emergency prepared solution ALICE.
Our decision to abandon the outdated lockdown plan is based on recommendations from the Department of Education, Federal guidelines on safety and local law enforcement. Our goal is to ensure we are continually improving and monitoring the safety of our staff and students.
We believe ALICE will help us make our school a safer place to learn, work and grow. We hope you can attend this important informational session.
Date: Monday, January 13, 2025
Time: 6:30pm – 7:00pm
Location: Byron High School Cafeteria

A Message From Byron Sports Boosters!
As we are getting back into the swing of things after winter break, BEASB would like to remind you of our event this weekend-Saturday 1/11. Last year alone BEASB donated almost $20K to the Byron Athletic programs! Our 2025 goals require us to ensure our fundraising events are a success and we can't do that without your continued support.
Tickets for this weekend include entertainment & dinner. The Band, Tweed & Dixie, is a talented trio that mainly tours bay city/midland areas (so it's a treat to have them so close to home). They have a wide repertoire with influences from waylon jennings, white snake and current chart toppers.
Dinner is catered by Cancun 2 of linden w/cash bar available.
Location is holiday shores, Durand.
We would love for you to join us and please share if you have friends/family that enjoy a night out in the area (they don't have to be byronites to have a great time at this event). For a party of 8 we will reserve a table. Tickets are a simple click online through the link below.
Thank you in advance for your time and support!
