AG Mech and Metal Tech
The Ag Mech and Metal Tech kids are burning a lot of rod practicing their welding. They have been practicing stick welding and are learning the different welding positions. Once they master stick welding will be doing MIG welding as well. They are learning how to weld and how to critique their own welds to improve their technique.
Business Law Field Trip
The business law class went to the federal court building here in Lubbock, to witness a sentencing hearing with the honorable Judge Wesley Hendrix, who is a United States District Judge for the Northern District of Texas (He's a federal judge). There were some interesting cases varying from parole/probation violations, drug charges, to "white collar" fraud and embezzlement cases, and students were able to see expert witness testimony, and even hear some victim statements.
Students were then invited back into Judge Hendrix's chambers and library, to visit with him and ask him ALL the questions they had after the sentencing. We met with several U.S. Attorneys, and then the public defender's office. We met briefly with the FBI and U.S. Marshals, and they spoke with students about their jobs in the justice system, and we even got to go into the holding cells where inmates are kept until sentencing and transport.
