From the Clinic
Stomach aches have been a very common reason to visit the nurse this semester. Most of those visits have been due to students not eating a substantial enough breakfast to get them through to lunch, or a lack of breakfast completely. While I do keep some snacks on hand for the occasional need, I do not keep enough to provide daily snacks/breakfast to all students. A friendly reminder that our school cafeteria offers breakfast options every morning. If that would work better for your morning schedules, please allow your student to have breakfast at school. If you would like to provide snacks (gold fish crackers, animal crackers, pretzels, mini pop tarts, or anything peanut free) to the clinic, they are always appreciated.

Helping Children Find their Voice
Questioning is one of the single most powerful skills we can pass on to our children. And yes, that also means questioning us. Provide opportunities for them to question what they see, let them know that they should be questioning what they are learning and see in their world, and show them through example that it is fine to question you. Discuss how to question authority with respect, but also that you should fight for what you believe in. It is better to have children who dare to speak than those who remain silent.

Parent Volunteers & Safe Visitor Background Checks
If you are planning to visit or volunteer at FCE this year during school hours, you will need a Safe Visitor Background Check. There will be several opportunities for parent volunteers here at FCE, including FIELD TRIPS, FIELD DAY, etc. In order to volunteer at a school event during school hours (or attend a PTO meeting during school hours), you must have a current SafeVisitor background check on file.
