ZESD 6 Middle Schools Receive Recognition from Illinois State Board of Education
During Monday’s Board of Education Meeting, Superintendent Dr. Julious Lawson awarded Principals Chris Johnson (Zion Central Middle School) and Mike Pope (Shiloh Park Middle School) certificates from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), in recognition for improvements respective to their school's Annual Summative Designation.

Jasmin Cardenas, an award-winning Columbian-American bilingual storyteller will be sharing "Tales from the Americas". This program combines myths, legends, folktales, and personal stories from North, Central, and South America.
Opening performances by:
- ZBTHS Band and Choir
- Beach Park Kindergarten Ballet Folklorico and Middle School Dance Club

- East Elementary families filled the gymnasium at Zion Central last Wednesday evening to enjoy students performing a variety of holiday-themed songs. The festive event brought the community together to celebrate the season.
- Elmwood continues to support STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) through an after-school club that meets weekly for educational activities, including science experiments.
- On Tuesday afternoon, ZCMS students gathered in the school district kitchen for the monthly "Cooking with Itzel" demonstration. During this session, the students and two district staff members worked together to create a warm and hearty peach oatmeal bake.
- On Tuesday evening, ZCMS boys' basketball played Learn 6 in the ZCMS gymnasium. The sixth/seventh-grade team played first, and although they lost, the boys played a fantastic fourth quarter. The eighth-grade team played a great game, leading to a win.
- The Shiloh Park and Zion Central Middle School band and orchestra brought the community together on Wednesday night at Christ Community Church with heartwarming holiday music performances. Everyone gathered to enjoy the seasonal melodies these talented young musicians performed, celebrating the spirit of togetherness and the season's joy. It was a memorable evening filled with festive cheer and local talent.
- Lakeview Elementary hosted a festive celebration on Thursday evening, combining holiday cheer, a love for reading, and the grand unveiling of its newly remodeled library. The event welcomed students and families to enjoy themed craft activities, decorate sugar cookies, and immerse themselves in the holiday spirit. It also showcased the library’s new resources, highlighting its enhanced role as a learning and engagement hub.
